In regards to this sentence, there has been 1 owner who got a brand new Eco, and it just started the shuddering again. I think many of the guys who had them replaced have been driving in the summer months when the issue is less likely to happen. The next 2-3 months will be a good indicator if the deflector plate has helped some people.

For what it's worth mine never got any better during the summer, but I live in the south and humidity probably played a role. Mine had the 55 mph shudder and the fall on its face when trying to pass.

And by the way the only regret I have in buying a super duty is that I held out as long as I did waiting for ford to try and come up with a fix for my ecobust. I do believe that there are some out there that don't have the problems mine did but I wasn't about to buy another one to find out.

has anyone with the shudder put on a different exhaust? i've read around here that the factory exhaust is pretty restrictive, anyone think this could have an impact? just a thought

It's on my list but other unforseen circumstances have put that way down on the priorities right now.

It could go both ways. From an engineering standpoint it could alleviate many problems for lots of people. From a sales perspective it could annoy a LOT of customers (contrary to popular belief, the majority of truck buyers do not want their vehicle to be heard/felt from the next area code.

It's a first-gen engine. Growing pains are to be expected, it's inherent in being an early adopter of leading edge technology. It really sucks that these issues are coming up but such is life. If risk isn't your thing, the 5.0 or the 6.2 would probably have been better choices to put in your F150.

Went to the dealer today for a service. Told them the problem is still there, described the senario to make it hesitate / shudder. By the way, I can get the truck to do it consitently on a hill 5th / 6th gear below 2000 rpm. Charged me $150.00 as the lap top came up with no errors or codes....... I told them next time it will be the salesman in the passenger seat with me driving and when it does it I want my money back!!!!

Yes, back when I was still hopeful Ford would step up and eventually fix my truck I went ahead and put on a SIDO catback. No effect whatsoever.

So, now I am considering pulling it off before the lemon law is resolved and reinstall the factory exhaust [also so Ford doesn't try to blame it all on my exhaust system] along with the retractable tonneau, amp and speakers.

Maybe you should stay out of this thread...you would know these things if you had read every single post of nearly 200 pages as I have, from day one of the start of this thread. That also means I've been dealing with these issues on my truck since before the start of this thread.

Do you even have an Ecoboost? Even if you do you obviously haven't experienced these issues.
Amen to that brotha! Does he really think we enjoy the Ford Run-around while working with them on their "Buy-back?" Lemon law rights combined with proper council are the only way to go unless you want to end up like me owing Ford $4700.00 on a replacement F150; downgraded engine (from eco to 5.0) downgraded stereo (From sony premium to basic) and no bedliner. I had $11,000 down on my 2011 and made 10 payments since the purchase yet after my "Buy-back" I owe THEM for the replacement. Get a lawyer, Ford will screw you a little bit at a time over the (in my case 10 months) period of "working with them". You need a lawyer here. Ford has a team of lawyers ensuring they don't loose a dime on a defective truck they sold YOU!

Here's something to try. Quite a few folks that have that 6th gear/55mph shudder have pulled the spark plugs and found the gaps are too big. They either re-gap or install new plugs with a little lower gap (.030-.033) and so far they have had good results. There is even a thread on it in the engines section.

Had this happen going home for labor day weekend driving through what was left over of issac and I get of one highway to get on another and I gas it to about 3000 rpm to get into traffic and it jumped down to 3rd gear as held it. So I did what I normally do and let of the gas and it shifted to 4 then on up once it hit 6th it was like my truck was falling apart so I pulled over and nothing wrong get going back on the road and never happened again. Next morning check engine light came on so I take it to the dealership and there was a tab for the check engine light coming on but they didn't get what I was talking about with the other stuff they were like what are u saying
