2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
#1661
Sadly I cannot wait and cannot get the TSB done anyway. My dealer actually called me today and suggested I start lemon law proceedings. Ford is no longer responding to their queries about this and the other issues . . . falling on its face, mpg loss, rough idle, etc.
I asked the dealer if there was any chance of a trade for a 2013 that wouldn't hurt me too badly financially and they didn't want to go there because I'd be trading in a lemon. I even mentioned that the wife's Volvo is getting long in the tooth and the new Escape, or the Explorer or perhaps Edge would all likely be on our shortlist so it would behoove Ford and the dealership to get my truck fixed or get me in one that works and that made no difference either.
I suspect that, truth be known, Ford doesn't have much faith in the so called fix and is calculating those of us forced to lemon law will be cheaper in the long run than actually fixing the trucks. I don't think they realize the domino repercussions of forcing lemon law on a customer.
1) They lose my immediate business.
2) They lose my future business.
3) Do you think any of my friends or family are going to buy one based on my response when they ask why I'm no longer driving my new F150?
In my 52 years, this is a first for me. I've had problems that were difficult to fix before but never a cavalier attitude like this. I know the 5.0 would probably make an OK replacement since my EB is now getting noticeably worse mpgs than most 5.0s are getting anyway but getting treated this way by Ford doesn't make that option very appealing to me.
Maybe I'll break down and finally get that Porsche Cayenne TDI diesel and just use my utility trailer when I need to haul more than I can stuff in or stuff I cannot haul in the rear. It's only 2X the price . . .
Just kidding . . . or am I?

That is absolutely nuts on Fords part. The NHTA has Toyota recalling cars for floor carpet getting stuck on the accelerator, but dosen't think the F150 falling flat on its face in passing or merging situations isn't as dangerous WTF. I hope you get this resolved. If you haven't already notified NHTA please do so. Good luck.

In the manual can someone with the shudder go to the page in the manual where it tells u how to reinstall a new battery. It goes into say it won't clear the adaptive learning strategy for the tranny but it will reset the flexfuel thing that reads the gas in the tank. When u reconnect the battery it tells you in the manual to do this certain thing with ur key turning it on and off and certain times to reset it
I'll get the page number tomorrow and post it but it's worth a try.

Recent PCM update
I got the latest PCM update flasehed into the truck. Been a week now.
I am happy to report that 85% of the shutter is gone. There is a very small hint of it left. I really had to work hard to feel it.
I am quite happy with the results and what little bit is still there I can live with no probs. The dealer had to order the necessary shield as they are on back order. I will probably not use it anyway as my truck has never experienced the acceleration power loss (possibly due to condensation in the IC.)
The truck seems to shift a bit better and mileage is about the same or slightly better. My ocasional hard shift to 4th is also gone.
I went to a different dealer and got this done without no probs. My current dealer would have not performed the flash, they are very sticky about that.
I also checked mu PCM SW ID and the last three have changed from AZE to AZG.I never had the Feb update done that one I believe was AZF
Will report back in a few weeks as I get more miles on the truck

How many miles did you put on so far? Mine acted better after tsb 12-2-10 but then I guess after the "relearn" stage the tranny does it went back to its old tricks. Livernois tune has since pretty much cured this thing of its issue.

Mine still shudders
My 2011 FX2 V6 Turbo still shudders after the latest fix 3 weeks ago.
STILL working on a buy back with Ford (Since November 2011).
Ford will deny a buyback if they are close to releasing a software "fix".
I've been through 3 of these including transmission clutch issues.
I assume everyone is just fed up with the situation and hearing, "Ford understands there is a problem and is working on a fix."
I'll keep you posted on the buy-back. My guess is they will drag their feet until they feel they have another "fix" and will deny my buy-back again.
