Yeah, I'm curious. My February built 2011 had no "deflector" and my 2012 looks exactly the same. I see no "deflector" at all and it's a March 2012 build. Maybe someone can enlighten us.

I call B.S. on Ford's part. Maybe I'll drive up to my local Ford dealer and ask to see one of these "deflectors" either in the box, on my truck or missing from a 2011 model.

The TSB is for vehicles built on or before 5/24/12, so I imagine only vehicles built after that date have the deflector. Probably not any trucks on dealers lots that even have it.

I think the piece of plastic the poster was talking about is located at the bottom of the CAC, it runs the length of the CAC, stands about an inch tall, is not a solid piece of plastic. My truck has this with a build date of July 2011.

This new piece goes towards the top/middle of the CAC.

IMO the "deflector" thing is BS. This is the only piece I would call a deflector installed on my truck. It does go up and runs along in front of the bottom of the intercooler about 1" but I don't see it's purpose and thought this deflector was for deflecting air-flow around the truck to better fuel mileage. As I stated yesterday when I had the latest TSB done the service manager said my truck already has the "deflector" so this is the only thing I can find remotely related to the intercooler. Do 2011 trucks have this same deflector? If so is my Service Manager on drugs? My truck was built in Nov 2011

The deflector in the TSB is clipped along the top edge of the IC. See (A) in the print screen of the TSB attached.

I guess I'm all wet. After seeing the pict in the TSB that was posted I opened the hood and found my truck does have a plastic deflector on top of the IC. It blocks the back vice the front ... is this the same as shown in the TSB pict?

The picture you have with the arrow is just the air dam and has nothing to do with the CAC. All trucks have that.

The pic of your CAC tells me you do not have the deflector installed that is outlined in the TSB. The deflector in the TSB is the brownish colored thing in the TSB figure. It covers the top part of the CAC.

The area in the red box is the deflector piece.

Based on the photo in the TSB I think my truck DOES have the deflector. I doubt the real part is brown ...likely that color in the diagram to highlight the part. At least my dealer says I have the deflector and after seeing it myself I would agree.

I agree. The picture from the TSB shows the brown deflector clipped on the front of the IC and overlaps the existing deflector on the top edge. It also shares the holes for the 2 clips that are on the top edge of the IC towards the grill. The TSB calls for 2 clips, replacing the existing ones I imagine.
