Funny how many 2012's are seeing this issue now. I work in manufacturing and when we find out we have a issue there is a line stop and engineering has to come up with a solution before we build again. You would think Ford would have enough engineers to find a fix (and decently fast) before they keep putting junk trucks on the lot and ruining their quality.

After 5000 miles of dismissing this issue as being overly picky, I took a trip through the mountains of New Hampshire. While doing the ascent through Franconia Notch, my truck acted like it was missing most of the way up. Previously, driving around Vermont with lesser grades, I would only get one or two "misses" on an upgrade. I can now see where driving up more serious grades daily would get on my nerves.

Just finished a test run with mine to see if the TSB helped. Although the "misfire" feeling is definately less, its still there. And I only feel its less because temp was at 32 degrees when I went out. Middle of winter is when I really noticed it when temps were below 20 degrees. If work is slow in the morning I may try and drive it out to the dealer as its gonna be mid 20's and I will definately be able to recreate it for them, last week when they had it it was a little warmer and it was very difficult to recreate.

Dropped mine off at dealer this AM for:

-Missing/Shuddering
-"Service AdvanceTrac" fault
-Inoperable brake controller - Yes fuses are installed.

2012 Eco XLT Screw 157" 4x4 606 miles.

SM said he was aware of the 12-10-2 TSB and indicated my truck likely had it already but would check. Said Ford is supposedly working on another update, ETA unknown.

All the newbies to the thread make sure to take the time and add your info to the sticky thread, the better the count we have the more pressure we can put on Ford.

I just picked mine up on Saturday and made the drive from OKC to Denver today. I put just about 700 miles on it today and has a total of 930 right now. I was about 100-150 miles in to my trip and I was trying to pass a semi which required about half throttle from 60mph to about 80mph. When it got to about 80mph is felt like the governor came on and it fell on its face (power was gone) so I let off the gas and let the truck slow itself down. I hit the cruise at 75mph and it shuddered for a good mile. Only happened once and never did it again the whole way.

I was really pissed off. Brand new truck and this crap??

Just finished a 2000 mile trip with my new 2011 Ecoboost Scab. I had the TSB performed a few weeks before we left and the shudder on hills was reduced but not eliminated. The dealers service manager and a tech both told me to punch it about every 200 miles - implying that there can be the IC condensation issue. First day out while driving in wet snow at 34* I punched it after driving about 300 miles and it really crapped out when tach hit 4500rpm. Thought it was going to die but nursed it back to life. Glad it was not in an emergency situation. Tried it a few more time on following days but could not repeat plus the ambient temps were a lot higher.

As for gas mileage, it was really apparent that the mileage varies with ambient temps and/or length of operation. Driving in temps below freezing resulted in around 16.5 mpg. Mid 30s gave about 17.5 mpg. In the 40s and 50 it got to 18.5 mpg. When temps were up to 60 and higher i got near 20 mpg. All driving as at about 75 mph on similar topography. On one day under a more constant temp it appeared that the mileage increased the longer I drove, like 100 or more miles, the mileage also increased.

I no absolute nothing about turbos but my feeble mind started to think that the intercooler is maybe too efficient. When real cold it cools the turbo air way too much and can even build condensation. Engine doesn't operate at optimum until ambient air temp is in the 60??

I have seen other posts were guys wanted to put grills over the intercooler opening but techs said not to restrict air flow by any amount. But maybe FORD should try a temperature controlled baffle in front of the IC so it doesn't cool the air that much until temps reach 60*

My fifty cents worth,

Chanty

Just had an e-mail from Ford Canada customer service. After my appointment last week for the ''new TSB'', I sent them an e-mail to say that the dealer had done the TSB and I still had the ''symptoms''. In this e-mail, Ford customer service confirmed that they contacted the service manager to make a follow-up. The service manager said that they were in contact with Ford's technical services to find a solution for my problems.

We'll see !!

So I now have a service rep assigned to me, Wendy and so far she is very prompt and helpful with my truck issue...here is a snapshot of my issues:

***I have a video that proves the following behavior, truck pegs to ~4K RPM...

2/17/12: Driving in fog to NM from TX passing on a two lane road, truck down shifts to 3rd, but does not accelerate, bogs as if misfiring and cannot complete my pass, safety issue. Took to Sam Pack's 5 Star Ford in Carrolton, TX...no resolution.

3/11/12: Driving to OK from TX in a down pour, entering highway at 55 mph, press accelerator to merge, downshifts but truck does not accelerate, bogs as if misfiring and cannot complete merge and have to exit to shoulder to avoid 18-wheeler, safety issue. Took to Sam Pack's 5 Star Ford in Carrolton, TX...no resolution

4/9/12: Driving from Dallas, TX to Houston, TX in a down pour, attempt to change lanes to pass slow vehicle in right lane, downshifts but truck does not accelerate, bogs as if misfiring and cannot complete pass and cause multiple vehicles behind me to slam on brakes in the rain, safety issue.

Truck is currently at Planet Ford (Spring, TX) as I am in Houston for training for 2 weeks...

I will not drive a truck that puts me or anyone else on the road at risk. Sad because so far I have enjoyed the truck...when it's not raining at least.
