I have to say it was very comfortable ride for the 2 12hr days there and 2 12’s back; I used approx 800 litres of fuel, I know have 8600kms on the truck

Todd
Your approx figures only work out to approx 16.5 mpg.

Just do the conversions yourself.

Don't forget guys, you are all quoting in imperial mpg. Most of the guys on here are US mpg.
So above at 14.4 l/100 = 16.1 mpg us = 20 mpg Imperial( give or take. )

I have converted all my figures to US mpg, as I realize most readers here are American. My quoted "lifetime mileage" of 17.4mpg is per US gallon. That's about 21mpg in Canada after 5,000 miles 50/50 highway/city.

I too bought the exact same truck only in Adobe for color. I had a 2010 model only with the 4.6 3v motor. That truck was adequate, fairly responsive but could only muster around 14-16mpg (US). I traded it for a new Mustang with the 3.7 and 6spd manual that would deliver 35mpg highway and 24-25 in town.

About 4 months later the Mustang is gone and a 2011 F150 has replaced it. Couldn't live with the 'tiny' Mustang any longer.

This truck with 2000 miles so far continues to amaze me. Sound is awesome, power is more than adequate actually it has enough to be fun. Boy 95-100 gets here in a hurry. My daughter loves it, says it feels much smaller than it is because it is so responsive.

Not to beat a dead horse but for 2011 anyone who bought a new Ford pickup is a winner reguardless of engine choice. Always knew they could do it. Question is why take so long?

btw. . . my lifetime avg (2000 miles) is 18.9. Using the cruise control set at 60-65 it will give me right at 20.0 on my road. Had one 150 mile trip where I actually got 22mpg. I expect better after 5 to 10K once she loosens up. Great pickup. . .

Default 3.73, sound, agree!

Love the sound of my truck when I step on it (which might be a little more often than I should, but oh well). Good write up!
I gave up on the gas milage thing once it was broken in and i can put my foot in it!! It peeled out slightly couple times when I punched it doing about 10-15 mph. Downshift is mean!

Default Ice Storm Update

Just a quick update about how the truck handles in ice (once again its only a 4x2), we got a really good freezing rain storm here overnight and the streets looked like glass this morning.

The truck did great. I have a set of cooper discovery winter tires on it and with zero additional weight in the back the truck got moving no problem. The traction control kicked in on a couple of hills but it was very smooth in adjusting the power between the rear wheels and regulating the throttle response. Got me to work feeling safe and confident, very impressed!

The way I usually calculate my mileage by hand is to divide my kilometers traveled by 100 and then divide my fuel used by that number.

So for instance you take your 5600km / 100 = 56
Then take your 800 Liters and divide by 56...... 800 / 56 = 14.286 L/100 km

To ROUGHLY convert to us mpg you can divide 235 by your L/100 km......253 / 14.286 = 16.45 mpg

Theres also lots of good websites out there that will do the conversion for you just google mpg to L/100km. Hope this helps.
