I would imagine the engineers put a "safety" feature in the current gas engine that puts the engine in limp mode or shuts off when oil pressure drops. Once the paper moves around in the filter it would run okay for a bit and then it would happen again. Don't know if Fram is still having the issue, but if they used a cheap oil filter it could be your problem. the only way to tell is to cut the filter open.
The 6.0L diesel doesn't use oil pressure to pressurize the fuel, they use what they call hydraulic electronic unit injector(HEUI) which means it uses high pressure oil to act upon a piston in the injector of which the fuel injection control module(FICM) activates an open/close solenoid to deliver fuel into the combustion chamber...in a nut shell.

Ok, I've read a lot of posts on here about bad gas, but did he have his fuel filter changed when he got his oil changed? If so I'm sure it wasn't a motorcraft fuel filter. A lot of aftermarket fuel filters are restrictive and can cause engine lag, dying out, and rough performance due to low fuel pressure.

It's been a little while since I worked at Ford, but I completely forgot the f150's stopped using a replaceable fuel filter mounted on the frame after 2008, my mistake, I was thinking about the 2004-2008 4.6L/5.4L engines. Should of read the title post more carefully.
