Well, the CEL was related to an air filter sensor the oil change guy forgot to hook up. So, while they reset the code they nicely added my brake controller. Just have to wait and see if its going to work.

Are there any "generic" versions of Fords "trailer tow battery charge relay" by chance, say at like Autozone etc? Or is this something I need to buy from Ford or online? My brake controller didn't come with the fuse or the relay and I can't seem to find them bagged in my truck anywhere. The one I need is for a 2011 F150 #8L8T-14B192-AA.

Thanks!

Just read all the previous posts
I have a 2013 stx 5.0L with the 4 pin connector on the rear bumper. No aux trans cooler
Can I put in the factory controller?
Can I use the factory 7 pin trailer connector at the rear bumper.
I don't think there are enough wires in the connector on the frame for it to work. Someone please confirm.
If its too much messing around Ill just put in aftermarket stuff

Default 2012 F150 XLT - adding 7 pin

I came across this thread while trying to figure out how to hook up the wiring on my 2012 F150 XLT. The information was so good, I thought I would join and get your input. I bought my truck used and it does not have the brake controller or tow package. I added a Reese hitch and there was already a 4 pin hooked up on the bumper (my dealer said that was aftermarket). Thanks to all of your help, I think I can find the components at fair prices. A couple of questions I came across though.

1. I am trying to determine if I have harness coming from the front that has 7 wires or 4 wires, which then runs to the hitch. I found two harnesses. One is further towards the cab literally above the tire. It almost looks like it is has a cap on it and nothing is connected to it. I believe there are 7 wires that run to it. It's cold and snowy here right now, so I didn't get a chance to drop the tire yet and really look(no garage available). There is another harness that appears to be where my 4 pin runs to that is at the back of the spare tire (towards the bumper). It only appears to have 4 wires that run to it. I am hoping the 7 wire is the appropriate harness so I can easily add the 4/7 harness and be on my way. Thoughts?

2. I found what appears to be the end of a harness taped under my dash next to the main plugin. I assumed this was the right harness for my brake controller, based off of previous pictures. However, my dealer told me that I didn't have a harness and it would need to be wired. They didn't actually look it, but came to that conclusion from the VIN number. My question is does that harness hook to my controller or is my dealer right? I don't have the brake controller yet, so I cannot attempt to plug it in.

No pictures at the moment. If it helps, I will get some.

Thanks in advance!!!

Do the + and - buttons light up? Just installed it with the fuses and it did not illuminate.

Only when it's activated in the computer.

Not sure on the first one but my TBC was taped up under the steering wheel by the OBD2 plug. You just have to fish that up to where the TBC installs and plug it in.

I have a Brand New Ford trailer brake control (TBC) Module Kit, I bought it for my 10F150 but never installed it. Then I traded for a 14F150 and it already has one.
The Part#s: AL3Z-19H332-AA, 2Fuses included: #AL3Z19H332AASUB, #6E5T14A094BA.
Installation instructions included w/Relay Diagram.

I paid close to $200 shipped.
Sell for $130 shipped anywhere USA, Canada too.

PM me if interested.
