Anyone have any screenshots of the brake controller being shown on their 2011 screen?
Just got mine programmed. I was able to get it activated for free while in for an oil change. At first I was told it was working as it should (because there was no TBC FAULT indications when the technician was looking at it), but I could not access the gain control and it didn’t appear it was working. I supplied the technician with the activation programmable procedure (https://www.f150forum.com/f38/integr...troller-45160/) and he performed it pretty fast.

Once properly activated you will have access to the Gain control in the System Check menu of the Message center for trucks with this type of display (maybe someone can post picks of what it looks like with the other display setup).

The + & - buttons of the controller will illuminate as with all other dash lights as well.

GREAT instructions! Installed OEM brake controller in my 2011 F150 today, as it had towing package, but no controller. Purchased controller on ebay from Heller Ford, El Paso, IL. Just under $130. Got caught by the adapter on the plug, (thought I had wrong controller)but went back to the thread and see the solution. Thanks for the tips! Saved me mega-time fighting with the install!

Default OEM BRake Controller install

So, one final question - mine did not come with any fuses. Reading the thread, it appears there should be fuses in slot 19 & 23 (under hood)? I have on one in 23, but 19 is empty. What amp fuse should I get?

Thanks!

Just FYI for others tat look at this, the menu in dash will be different than those above as that is a newer 4.2 screen.

You will see options in the older looking screen too.

Default Thank You

All,
I just wanted to drop a "Thank You" note to everyone in this thread who posted information about installing the Ford OEM TBC in their 2010 F150. Your instructions, pictures, and words really made this project straightforward and easy. I did this task in about 15 minutes and I really appreciate you saving me (and others) the time and the labor charges Ford or others would charge to do this install. As we say in the Army, "Hooah!"

Default trailer break control

so if you use the pigtail do you still need the PCM to be programmed?

If you're installing the Ford brake controller, you have to have the computer programed. If aftermarket, you do not.

I think the pigtail is for the aftermarket controllers. I bought the OEM version so I don't know anything about the aftermarkets.

oem is way better for the inter graded brakes! if you go aftermarket then no its just power and wiring that gets used. theres no tie to on board computer with the after market so no flash is needed. i would like to ask is it for money reasons your going with a after market? becuse ford's is just as good as eny out there and price is better tham others, plus no screw holes in yor dash from mounting a after market one.
