I don't know what the difference is other than it is something to do internally.

thanks,

After you install it, you have to take it to your local dealer and have them program it.

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to ask.

thanks,
Joshua

I already have an aftermarket brake controller installed and was wanting to install the factory style one to take advantage of the sway control.

I'm wondering though, can I get whatever it is that needs to be flashed done and have it work with my aftermarket controller, or does it need the factory one to work (so that it shows up on the display and does the sway control/braking)?

Also, does the factory brake controller work if you don't get the module flashed?

I don't think you can get the features to work with your aftermarket controller. But that's just a hunch.

I base that on the fact that the factory brake controller is just a piece of junk till it's programmed. It does nothing until then.

Question is, is the sway controls parts of the brake package or are they part of the truck?
