Where did u get the sensor and where does it go?
Short answer, yes. I did the climate control swap yesterday. Before i di the mirrors, and it worked. Unfortunately....I got it out of a totaled '09 f150 at my work. I work at a body shop. But I think they are around $40. Dont quote me on that, as im an employee, i get a discount.

It is under the hood, just to the right of the passenger headlight. You'll see a wire clipped onto the radiator support. Theres just a tube plugged into it. thats what you swap out

I will keep my eye out for some, I'd really like to get my paws on a dual zone.

For everyone with '11's and up, this member CorvetteDreamin found the way!

EUREKA! It works. A/C blows cold, outside temp sensor works. Initially the outside temp read 89. It was actually about 53. After a few minutes it dropped down to about 78. Then slowly down to 74. But when I took it for a short drive, it came down to 53 and held there.

The part number is BL3Z-19880-BA.

My truck is a 2012 STX. I added the heated/signal mirrors.

The TASCA part can be had 2011-2012 Climate Control with heated mirrors

It's worth calling to verify with TASCA that it's the right part although they'll likely be a little confused helping you. There was a suggestion that each factory has different parts compatibility. (Scratching head... wondering how the engineers figured that one out...)

So do you have to find a dual zone climate control unit with that mirror defrost button for the ext temp sensor to work? Even though i don't have or need dual zone climate? And would this even work to make our type of truck dual zone as a plug and play option?

or...do you just make sure you find a single zone with the mirror defrost?

This^ just look for a single with the defrost button. I don't even know if a dual zone would work

Unfortunately not. There's a lot more involved than just swapping the climate control unit.
