Default farm truck bed rails

I make 2 hour trips to the farm with my 3 labs. I usually tie them into the bed so they cant jump out and hang themselves but can still get their nose out the side. That's fine, except if I need to stop, they will want to follow me and could still get hung. Here is my solution! I LOVE IT! If I have to stop, I will still tie them in, and this way they can not jump out. And even while driving I feel more secure knowing they wont jump.

That brings back memories of trucks when I was growing up. Nice job!

How bout you put the in a proper transport crate strapped into the bed so they don't die if you ever get in an accident.

Never understood the lack of care or concern for dogs in the back of a truck box.

I know my lab is worth 100s of hours worth of training and about $3K and his life and safety is worth more than being tied into a bed where he is still not confined in an accident.

Exactly, ppl sometimes don't think of the extreme end of things. Not to say you're the bad driver but ppl don't pay attention and not securing the pups in properly could lead to an ugly end.

@Chickenchaps,

When I was a kid, I remember riding in the bed of my uncles F150, and looking over the cab while going down the road at 45-50 mph.

I guess my parents and uncle should have been arrested for child endangerment, and my childhood memories of riding in a truck should have been me strapped into a seat with a 5 point harness, like a NASCAR driver (but backwards facing), with a nice view of the houndstooth seat cover, and a pinch of blue sky thru the rear window. lol

I have pets too, and I would never purposefully harm them. Life is dangerous, and none of us will make it out alive. I'd rather see a dog enjoying a ride in the back of a truck, than locked up in a hot car.

Very classy looking, and the dogs must absolutely love it!

As for endangering your dogs. Sure this is more risky for them than being locked in a dog crate, but life is not about living as long as you can without risk. Its about enjoying the time you have. I would rather ride my motorcycle to and from work to feel the wind on my face and face the increased chance I may die in a crash. Than drive my truck every day and be trapped inside a box looking out at the world.

But to each their own. You do you, and I wont judge your multi thousand dollar crated dogs. And ill do me, and try not to judge my mutt of a dog with his head out the window blocking my passenger side mirror.

Could put them in a harness also, that way if they jump out, not hanging by the neck. But a crate might be best.

Looks really good, my dogs ride in the cab now because of the way other people drive but at least you care and that's more then a lot of other dog owners these days. I've got some seat belt harnesses for them. There my kids lol and they only get the best.
