Default 2010 rear clutch packs

How common is it to have the rear end noise while making turns in our year F150s. I have a 2010 KR with 100k miles. The dealership is telling me there was a bad lot of parts and it's a common problem. $900 for new clutch packs and bearings. Pisses me off for a 5 year old truck and I don't use it to tow much. I've already changed the rear end lube twice.

When you changed the gear oil did you add any friction modifier?

Just had them changed on my 2010 xlt at 55000 miles. 100000 miles is pretty good for them. I was lucky ,I bought the truck with a 6 yr 100000 mile power train warranty and it was covered.

I had this issue on my 2010 Lariat SCREW from the factory. Had the truck in for 2 warranty services. First service was with 2000 miles on the truck, replaced the packs, at 2500 miles they replaced the packs and carrier. I have been issue free, now around 65K miles.

What other issues are you having other than chatter while turning? Any noise while driving? I changed the fluid in mine and that made it better but it is still there. Also have a slight hum in the rear end after it warms ups.

2010 with l/s rear end. No noise but had slipping when starting to move with the front tires turned. Felt like I spun a tire. Change fluid and added 2 bottles of f/m. solved my problem so far. That was at 114k. 121k on truck now. From what I remember readying its not uncommon to have the clutch pack show signs of wearing out at 100k. May be why they went to electric locking rear diff. I dont know.

Hi exploreco,

Do you still have approximately 78,00 miles on your truck? Let me know; I'll see how I can help keep the noise down.
