The 5 digit code that you saw on the label was likely the master unlock code. If you search on youtube, you can see examples of the label and where to find the code.

I'm not sure about the comment the dealer told you about there being 3 different versions of the GEM. I guess posting a picture here of your gem sticker could allow us to research more.

Were you able to confirm a good ground at the keypad? How did you test the circuit?

We used an ohm meter and it was showing ground but still no power. When we pressed buttons it was getting feedback but no illumination. I put the power probe on the white/green wire coming directly from the GEM and there was no power going to it. I'll post a pic of the GEM tomorrow morning when I have more light. Sorry to be a pain but this is driving me crazy that I can't get it to work. And of course, just when I was ready to give up, Tasca won't accept my door handle back as a return since I plugged it in...

Here is my GEM. Front and back. There's only four numbers on the bottom left of the sticker.

I looked at the GEM in my truck and our part numbers are different. Mine is al3t-15604-de. My code is in the bottom left corner which does not appear to be present in your photo. Maybe your on to something that your GEM is not compatible. I'm not sure what to do. If you want the keypad to work really bad, you could try swapping out GEMs. There seem to be a few of them on ebay. I don't know at which point you should stop though. You've already sunk some money into this project. Swapping out GEMs would cost more money with no guarantee. If you go the route of swapping GEMS, you will need to program the as built as well as reprogram your keyless fobs. You can do programming at home with a modified elm 327 adapter and forscan software. I feel like swapping out GEMs is a wild idea though. You'll have to decide if this risk is worth it to you or not.

At this point I'm ready to just put the door handle on ebay and go with the stick on one that I really didn't want. It's just my luck I guess. Thank you so much for taking time out to help me though! It's greatly appreciated!

hi mtech you help me earlier this month on a different post and guided me on what to purchase and how to get into forscan. I thank you for that. Is there any way to get a list of what the GeM codes do? Thanks

Jason, you'll need to do some reverse engineering to figure out what the as built data does. People discovered the bits to enable the keypad by comparing trucks that had / did not have keypad. You could use something like autotrader or other online service to discover vin # and their equipped features. Once you know vins, you can request as built data from motorcraft service. You could use computer software like ultracompare to find differences. It will take a bit of work to do this.

Another way to go about this is to use forscan to enable known features. Forscan gives two options for editing this data: in a gui method with simple pull down options, or in the raw as built format.

yes good idea. In the meantime today I was able to get into forscan and hook up my odb2 with switch on it and went into the GEM module and all I did was change line code from 726-04-01 0234 to 726-04-01 0638. Please tell me all I need to do is install my keypad I purchase and it should work? I have a key card that came with the manual assuming that is the code. Thanks

Correct, change 0234 to 0638. Now the truck will respond to the keypad. You can use Forscan to find your master code. The option is either under service procedures or module programming.
