Default 2010 Grille swap "Platinum" for "Harley Davidson"

I've "lowered the bar" on my desire to swap out the 2010 F-150 Platinum grille.

What I've got.

What I want (just the grille above the bumper):

A thread from another poster said the H-D grille was $900 from the Ford dealer. That's too much coin for a $300 grille.

Anyone got a 2010 H-D grille they want to swap even for a Platinum grille?

I was under the impression that you had to swap out more then just the grill to make this conversion work, have you checked into that?

The Platinum grille assembly consists of a grille frame and a grille insert. There is a grille support frame behind the grille. There are 6 bolts across the top and 6 bolts across the bottom that fasten the grille assembly to the support frame. The entire grille assembly can be removed with those 12 bolts. (We are just talking above the bumper.)

On the Platinum, the grille frame is the same silver color as the grille insert. On the Harley Davidson, the grill frame is painted Tuxedo Black (per another post somewhere on this website). This is lucky for me since Tuxedo Black is the color of my truck.

"Etnix" is right that grille inserts take a lot more work, probably professional body shop installation. I saw a black billet grille that I really liked, but when I called the manufacturer, they said they were only making that design as a grille insert at this time, and you have to splice that into your existing grille frame.

Default Just another grille idea.

I walked out to the parking lot at lunch hour and popped the hood to look at the grille support and mounting. The whole grille is plastic. Just a few whacks of a sharp hacksaw blade and it could look like this:

The middle bar with the FORD blue oval might need some reinforcing, and a flat back mesh would have to protect the radiator, air conditioner, transmission cooling coils. But it is essentially a free mod.

Not sure that is an improvement. Of the grills shown above, the stock Platinum grill looks the best. Just my opinion, of course.

Alright here you go. This would be an improvement.

I also want the Harley grill but I think for your Platinum you should keep it stock. That's a real nice truck and really works with the rest of the Platinum features.

Cleaning that egg crate grille is a bitch. It needs to be replaced. I just haven't figured out how to do it and still keep it looking good.

I've got to agree with that. Looks good. Difficult to do with the given Platinum injected molded plastic grille with chrome on plastic finish.

It also it leaves the detail cleaning problem with the egg-crate part of the grille.
