2010 F150....largest tire size?
I've ordered a new F150 4x4 supercrew XLT which should be arriving in early Feb with michelin 265/70/17 LTX AT2 tires on it. The tread design is mickey mouse and because I live back in the bush in Canada I want something more aggressive and larger diameter. I know the computer has to be changed but what I want to know is how large can I go before I have problems with the front tires rubbing? I don't want to put a lift kit on it. I've talked with several tire dealers and the ford dealer and no one seems to know for sure. The stock tires are 32in. and there seems to be quite a bit of room. I'm looking at nitto terra grapplers or trail grapplers either 285's ( 33in.) or 315 (34in). One solution I thought of is for the tire dealer to bring in 2 sizes and if the largest one doesn't fit ...go to the smaller size. Does anyone here have a definative answer? -Thanks chris

I put GoodYear Silent Armour 325/60R18 on the factory 18" wheels, they look great, do not rub, but are a little louder on the highway. These work out to be a 33.4" tire. Where are you at in Canada? Will have to compare notes! Good choice on a truck purchase!

Nice...
hey ...thx for your input. I'm north of Kingston Ont. I was told that the problem is not the rear but the front tires....Does it look like you'd have enough clearance if you put slightly larger tires on ...say a half inch on each side especially when the wheels are turned ? Ya, my truck is pretty much a plain jane xlt with 4.6L motor. I have an'07 with a 5.4 and it has way more power than I need. I do do a bit of towing but I'm sure the 4.6 will be plenty and the gas mileage should be better. Also I ordered the carpet delete pkge which is great if you're in and out with alot of sand or dirt on your boots....cheers

Hi,
Fellow Canadian here. I also hope to change tires soon. The stock badyears are just as crappy as every other goodyear tire ever made. On my older Durango I had BFG Mud Terrains. They were most fantasic for both mud and deep snow, but holy hell on ice. Had to get them siped. Problem was they are VERY loud on the highway.
I'd like to find something decent for my 2010 FX4 that is more aggresive than stock, not too loud, and won't break the bank Hard combination!
I'd like to hear what you end up with, and from where.
Cheers,

yo prairie....Not sure if you have kaltire chain out there but they are the only dealer that is willing to swap the mich. tires for either BFG's or nittos. I'm thoroughly confused after reading conflicting reviews in various forums....but it sounds like the terra grappler is probably what I'm heading for ...descent traction and not too noisy. Goodyear dura trac look good as do dunlop m/t maxx traction....but they wont do a swap.I'll keep you posted

Guys, I had those new Michelin LTX AT2 in the LT version on my last truck, a Dodge 3500 single rear wheel one ton, and I loved them. They were surprisingly quiet, gave great year round traction, and were very good in winter conditions. Unless you are after a whole lot of off road, I would not switch them for anything else - save your $$. If we were closer, I would trade you straight across for my upgraded 325/60R18's !

check its ratings and reviews at TireRack.com, I wouldn't plug them if I hadn't ran them for a year and 43000km, and when I took them off (lease return) I was able to sell them no problem with 80% tread remaining - Michelin have always been a great mileage tire.

can you post a couple pics of your truck? if it's not too much trouble? I'd really like to see how it looks. I think that's the size I will go with as well.
Thanks

Thoughts???
Anyone have any thoughts on nitto terra grabbers or trail grabbers vs bfg AT / TA . I keep getting conflicting info in tire forums. This is a pic of the terra grabber. I'm worried the trail grabber might be too loud on the hiway.
