2010 F-150 clunk feeling/sound when coming to a stop and starting.
Happens when I come to a stop and start up again like slack in the drive train. Ford specialist said it might be that the drive train needs to be greased but there are no Zerk fittings on the drive train. Is this the case or could there be something loose in the rear axel? Anyone heard of this?
17,500 miles so far and still under warranty. Only thing I've done to the vehicle is put a 2.5 level on the front and 3 inch level on the back. Using larger tires too. 275/70 18 if memory serves.
I did retorque the ubolts at 350 miles after installation.

I am taking it tomorrow morning and will report back what they found. I also have a problem with the engine having a ticking noise at idle. My drivers leather seat is also bunching up right at the seat creases. So, I let them deal with it. I hope I don't get flack for putting in a leveling kit. It's just a spacer under the front end and the rear end. Shouldn't affect drive train.

these problems were common in the 09-10's early on. they will tell you it is the "adaptive" transmission and that it is normal to make that "clunk" feel that you are feeling. they can in fact tell you because you have leveled the truck out with aftermarket spacers that your pinion angle is off. however, that won't cause the clunk, it will only cause a bad vibration. whatever you do, do not let them remove the driveshafts if you don't already have a vibration. they removed mine chasing a popping noise in my rear suspension (come to find out it was my rear seat popping) and when they re installed them they didn't set them right so now i have a vibration. but they are going to fix it next time it's in for service.
as for the ticking noise, i don't know which engine you have. but it is normal. they will tell you the same thing more than likely.

There is a TSB out about this. My '10 had the same issue and the dealership put grease and a new boot on the 2 piece drive shaft. It fixed the clunking sound/feelingon my truck.

That's what my dealer said last time. He said to fill the drive shaft full of grease but there are no Zert fittings and after a search, ford quit putting them in. I bought a grease gun and had not idea. now I have a grease gun with no fittings.
Anyone have a TSB for what he's talking about?

oh yeah, your ticking noise is definitely not normal. i have no idea what that could be but make sure the dealer hears it before you leave. otherwise they will say "cannot duplicate customer's concern at this time". standard dealership speak for they are too lazy to try to find it.

that's why I have it on my iphone. It actually sounds worse on the iphone than on the truck! It's been doing that since I got it. I knew about somepeople having it and figured it was a valve of some sort but the truck drives ok. I'm just taking care of things before warranty is over.

After my post above, I searched "rear clunk" and found a very recent multi-page thread on the problem we are discussing here. There is a TSB 10-22-6 that involves greasing a sliding spline that is supposed to address this problem. Reading the thread, mixed results from this TSB procedure.
