Default Factory sub swap?

Has anyone swapped out their factory sub with a new sub using the same box? I am thinking of possibly doing this with upgraded amp but I like the clean look of the factory sub box.

Any sub will sound terrible in a plastic box.

i would have to agree. the plastic box wouldn't really help matters. if your planning on put a new sub and amp in you might as well change the box. they have some really nice boxes on ebay.

One of my soldiers did it prior to deploying.
Bought an 8" shallow sub (GTO804??) and new amp. Shoved the box full of polypro and installed.

It actually sounds pretty decent... Not going to win any stereo contests but that was never his intent. Wanted a system that filled out the truck, added a little bass, and looked stock.

Edit.... He did not originally have the Premium sound package. He picked the Sub box off someone who was tossing it.
