2010 Driver Bucket Seat Heat Repair
As they are fond of saying at Big Salt, "When it rains, it pours!" Whilst waiting for the dealer to get the parts in for the RH exhaust manifold warranty work last week, the driver seat heat function quit, at ~58k mi. Wrong time of year for that to happen in N OH!
Hit switch, LED stayed on for about a sec. then off. Did all of the checks called out in the workshop manual, decided to take the seat out and apart (after the exhaust job was completed). Was able to make a soldered and hot-glued repair, replaced the charred go-between wire with some fine ~3/16" braid, works fine!
The cold resistance measurements for cushion elements (after repair) was 1.8 ohms (across 1 and 4 of C364), the backrest element(s) was 1.2 ohms (across 4 and 17 of C3050).

Heated Seat Burnt Wires
I have a 2011 Fx4. Having the same issue. This should be recalled as this could start a fire. I called Ford on this but they said they have not received enough calls about it to make it a recall. I know there are plenty of us with this issue we just need to call Ford and let them know the issue is widespread. This is not a cheap repair and need to be replaced by Ford.

For Ford to do a voluntary recall on this kind of a problem you would need burning trucks at street corners, lots of burning trucks.

I am pretty sure Ford did not anticipate having burnt seats. Maybe there is fire retardant in the seat for a fail safe if it did start on fire but it is not meant to do that. Bottom line is that there are a lot of cases just like this though out the F-150 world and Ford knows about it and Ford should do something about it.

Ford should do something about it. Sure in a perfect world. Like they should do something about vacuum pumps, busted back lights, slapping cam chains and bunch of other problems.
I suggest you educate yourself on how recalls get instituted, might be a eye opener.
And it's not just Ford, all of them deny and lie.

Once again your point is mute. A busted tail light or broke vacuum hose is not s life safety issue as this is. I suggest you read over my first post again as I stated before we need to make ford aware of this issue and not just eat the cost to get it fixed. This is how a recall works. If enough of us complain to Ford about the same issue the NATSA - National Highway Traffic Saftey Administration reviews Fords records and creates the recall. Do all the Auto makers lie and try to get out of spending a buck to do the right thing? The answer is yes, but if we the consumer stand together on the issue then it will be rectified.
