I tried searching for this already and did not find an answer to my question.
I have a 2010 SCab 4x4 5.4 w/ 6-speed, i have been experiencing a hard downshift from 2nd to 1st gear. This did happen about 3 times within the first 1000 miles but then it never came back, now i have 3500 miles and recently have had the hard downshift happen almost daily for the past week or so. It only does it when slowing down to stop at a light or a sign i can feel and hear a hard clunk in the trans. I read that the 10's do not need the trans reflash tsb because they already have it done from factory, so does anyone know the reason this is happening to me now after 3500 miles? I wanted to come here and ask people who might have had this happen to them as well before i take it to the dealer. Has anyone had this happen on your 2010? Also any possible solution?

Good luck! Seems to be an inherent problem in the '09 and '10 transmission. I have had the transmission reflash done and posted multiple times in this and another forum and have yet to find anyone say that they have had this problem fixed. I now have 7,000 miles on mine and it still does it. The transmission is supposed to be "adaptive". So far that hasn't happened with mine, however, I have become more "adaptive" in learning how to drive to prevent it from doing it as often.

you think you have problems, 1900 miles on my 2010 XLT and it is in the tranny shop, today as a matter of fact, getting torn down because it is "broke"

Have you put 5000 on it since the reflash?

so then would you guys reccomend that i have the trans reflash done, or should i wait out till 5000 miles and see if it goes away? Also why is the 5000 mile mark important with this transmission?

There's an adaptive learning program in the TCM that is supposed to monitor and learn your driving habits over the first 5000 miles.

Mine was a little clunky at first but cleared right up once I hit the 5k mark.

I have a 2010 F150 Platinum that has been doing the same thing since I bought it in March of this year. I have had it back to the dealer 3 times re the problem. And each time they "flash" the transmission and reset the adaptive learning process. I now have 14,700 miles on the truck and it sounds like the rear-end/tranny is going to fall out when it downshifts from 2nd to 1st.

The dealer can't duplicate the problem when I'm there of course and is telling me that Ford says a "bump" when downshifting is normal.

I say, NO, a $51,000 truck doesn't come with a harsh downshift.

I'm beginning to think the 6 speed tranny is problematic, Ford knows it, and is trying to down play it until they can figure it out. Meanwhile, I'm being told my driving style may be causing the problem.

Anyone else dealing with this stuff?
