Default 2009 XLT DRL Disable

i have a 2009 XLT cant figure out how to disable drl's. I bought the truck from ohio only had it a few weeks. tried looking in the manual for a fuse/relay and cant find anything. also tried looking behind the driver side headlight for a grey plug? read it on another forum. cant find that either. anyone else have this issue. if so if you go provide some pictures that would be great.

You are able to turn it off/on using Forscan. Why do you want to turn it off anyways?

I know the 13 and 14 year trucks can be done, I haven't seen the 12's and older be able to do it, we tried the same way on my friends 2012 and it couldn't be done. I was told the reason why that is is because the 13 and 14's had the option of HID oem lights and the older trucks didn't. I know there was a thread on here a while ago about all this and last time I read it nobody had found a way to disable the lights on the older trucks yet

Some trucks (USA manufactured ones), you can turn them on/off in the dash menu. Canadian born trucks have that menu left off as its a law to have them up there. I had to go to a dealer and have them turn them off for me since my truck was born in Canada. Like stated earlier, you can use Forscan as well but I just chose not to mess with that. My truck is a 2012 Platinum just for reference.

Forscan really doesn't work well with trucks older than 2011 since the '09-'10 trucks used the GEM instead of the BCM. You can look and try but I don't know if you will find anything. There may have been a DRL resistor used in '09 but I don't know. Your only other option is the dealer.

I believe the option was there on my '08 so I figured it would be available on the '09-'10.

Exactly as Chad said......

I have a 2011, and it's Canadian and forscan will allow me to turn them off, change to signals, or as I have it set now, change them to my fogs.

Forscan is very simple to use.

you guys had to bedoing something wrong, maybe not actually clicking "write" when you were finished and cycling the key?

I shut them off on my coworker's 2014, and my boss's 13, then they both got me to change them to the signals a week later. but it can be done on all of these trucks.

it's just the 09/10 that are very limited due to GEMS

I am turning mine off too. My truck is Canadian as well, so DRL is on by default. However, I am buying the Crystal Vision bulbs which have a shorter life span. I don't need to burn them up by having lights on during daytime. I'll just turn mine on when it gets dark or otherwise poor visibility. Waiting for my OBDII plug to get here so I can use Forscan.
