2009 F150 FX4 only doing one wheel peels?...i have the electronic locking diff...
I have a 2009 F150 FX4, 7000 miles. The other day i'm on the nice paved road, decided to try a burnout in the new ride. I take off the traction control, and i hammer on the gas and the breaks, and dam did she spin the wheels easy, smoke in notime. I'm thinking wow this does a burnout way better then my old 2003 Z71 chevy, untill i look back and see only a one wheel peel!! So i don't know, i know the chevy's fully lock up with their diff, don't these new fords? It seems like it works half the time since i've been testing it. I hammer down at 20 miles an hour on a dirt road and i leave to good tracks and fishtail, but the other day i was going uphill in the snow, i spin out, sit there spinning on the hill, look back and only my one tires is spining. I have the locking diff which comes standard on the FX4's...so is this how they are or should i be bringing in it...thanks guys..

Ya i read through the owners manual and managed to find that, so the diff will never lock up in just 2 wheels drive then?? that kinda sucks...

Turn off the traction control.
I tried a burnout in a loaner and had the same issue as you and was disappointed.
Then I noticed the fish tail light on the dash flashing.
Next try I turned off traction control and in first gear.
WOW good smoky burnout with the engine bouncing off the rev limiter.
2 long good marks on the pavement!
Try again!

yes its an OPEN dif while in 2wd the advanctrac helps make it seem like its a limited but once you get into really bad stuff you can really tell its an open. To turn the the advancetrac off you must hold the button down for 5 seconds then it is off untile you go over 35. The locker is active in 4x4 hi until 25 mph then disengages, in low it is locked to 56 mphs. Plus in 4x4 low the advanctrac is off at all speeds, I think.
hope this helps and good luck.

Agreed - that is strange.
The ELD is affected by the following conditions:
• The 4WD control must be in either 4H (4X4 High) or 4L (4X4 Low)
mode.
• The ELD will not engage if the vehicle speed is above 20 mph
(30 km/h) in 4X4 High or 56 mph (90 km/h) in 4X4 Low.
• In 4H (4X4 High), the ELD will disengage at speeds above 25 mph
(40 km/h) and will automatically reengage at speeds below 20 mph
(30 km/h).
• In 4L (4X4 Low), the ELD will disengage at speeds above 62 mph
(100 km/h) and will automatically reengage at speeds below 56 mph
(90 km/h).
The ELD is designed for off-road use only.
