another exhaust thread :)
ok well it has come to that time of chopping out the stock exhaust.
I am looking for something quiet with some growl like everyone else in the world. I have been searching but it seems as though no one has a straight answer or proof to go with it..
I have been looking at magnaflow 14inch or 18 oval exhaust. Can't decide between the to. Some say no drone some say drone like crazy. I am leaning towards 14 because I want it to be noticeable over stock I heard 18s aren't much different
All I want to do is cut the big muffler out by the rear wheels and have a shop weld in a new one. stock resi and cats and tail pipe . Any tipss?
I had a flowmaster 40 series on my last car you could hear me coming for miles I would like to avoid that. Sure was fun though, the truck is more of a family vehicle. comfortable in the cab with some growle behind it

I went with an Insynerator (not sure on spelling) and it is just a hair too loud. My truck is the family vehicle, and my daughter doesn't complain about it, but I'm sure she would appreciate it a little quieter. I offered to switch it back, but she told me not to worry about it. Maybe it bothers me more than her.
It's a single in, single out. Shop cut out the factory muffler and welded mine in for $150 Cash. It sounds a lot like a flowmaster, I think they copied it when the patent ran out.

I will be sure to post some as soon as I can figure out which I want. I may go with 18 but I do not want to be disappointed if it is to quiet.

Anyone just put a straight pipe in place of the resonator? If so how is the sound?

See my vid below. Good speakers or headphones that'll hit in the lower range help and turn it up! Otherwise it won't do it justice. I do a couple of WOT runs starting at ~5:40. I have a SI/DO Magnaflow (5x8x18) and still had the stock resonator in that video. I have since removed it and things are twice as loud with drone at highway speed. Most of the time I have the stereo up so no biggie but if you have radio off and trying to have a conversation it CAN be annoying...or on a 9hr road trip. With that said, if I made more long trips I would have a resonator put back on.

I have the same set up. You know its drones like a biaaatch around 1500rpms though. I removed the resonator too. Maybe put one back in but the tone is awesome.
