Default Tuners...Good or Bad?

So i've been looking into a tuner for my 10' F150 Screw! I have found some similar posts about tuners and how they are bad for trucks. Almost all the posts i have found however only pointed the finger at Diesels only and not gas trucks. What are some negatives about a tuner?
Thanks,

Dude, this has been asked 100,000,000,000,000....
times, at least.
Google that same question and you will get tons of threads/post.
They are not all bad, there are bad tuners and there are good tuners

Lots of posts on this as stated.

I had a 5* Tune on my truck from 22k miles till the day I traded it in at 75k Miles (5 years)

0 Issues, all out better performance and better gas mileage. Ran the 93 Perf tune from about 30k till the last day I returned it to stock.

no need to apologize man, someone was gonna say same thing I did in a matter of time.
Seriously though you'll find more info through Google with less response from a-holes like me/mine, lol
I too run 5 star tunes and have the same results as above mentioned. Best mod I've ever done

I went with the SCTX 4 tuner with 3 custom tunes from 5 star.
Best thing with the SCT device is multiple people tune for them so you have more choices, I also tried a tune from LET and it just didn't work for my truck, that being said there are many people really happy with their LET tunes. Every truck is different

The 5.4 won't have as much benefit from a tune but you can expect 20-25 hp with a good tune. That's about it... Shifting will be improved though. I used an edge programmer on my 5.4 engines and they were good and inexpensive. Less difference between canned tunes and "custom" tunes on a 5.4 imo. By a cheap unlocked edge and call it a day...
