Default 18" or 20" for Winter tire set BFG (A/T KO2)

I'm going to put together a winter tire set and have decided in the BFG AT K/O2.

I want to get it in either the 18" oem wheel size 275/65/18 or 20" size 275/55/20. I'd be putting them on the FX4 18's or 20's, I have a set of both.

I see they are both LT 'E' tires and will ride firmer, would I better off (bit better ride) by getting them in 18" for the taller sidewall or 20's for better looks?

I don't see that either size would have an advantage in traction over the other would it?

I like my ko2s but duratracs were better in sloppy winter conditions and ice.

I'd probably not want to run them all year due to the MPG loss of a couple.

I just purchased the ko2s for my stock 20s, I went with 275 60 20. They ride very nice! Barely any noticable difference in sound when compared to the scorpions. I haven't riden in snow with these yet, but I have in rain and they're super grippy. The scorpions still have a thread life of 9 out of the original 12, but they slide everywhere. They did pretty good last winter, but now I have 17k miles on them and they suck salty *****. It's snowed once so far here in ks, and they slid everywhere, no traction even with 4x4 engaged. Abs was kicking in constantly, almost had an accident. Anyway, that's what prompted me to buy new tires. Very happy with ko2s so far. Good luck

I'm sure I'll be in the minority, but I'd use the 18" wheel, with some 275/70's. The 70 series will get you about 33.25" height, I like more sidewall than what seems popular nowadays.
If you use this chart, and figure in the speedo error you'll have, the percentage that is, and add that to your mileage, you'll likely find you haven't lost much, if any mileage. That is assuming you drive the same percentage less in indicated speed. Or, you could get a tuner that will allow you to make the adjustment.

I really would like to stay factory size - to limit any chance of rub and to keep unspring weight down. I think I'm thinking straight here?

I see on the 275/55/20's I'll add about 10# per wheel - is this something that will be noticeable? I have no experience in this kind of thing so that's why I want to ask here.

You're thinking is fine, you just want to maintain close to stock specs is all. No problem there. IIRC, going to the 70 series was the first mod I did, even before my slight lift. So no problem with clearances there.
The 10# difference in weight, I don't think you'd even notice. But that's just my thinking. You'd notice more difference in ride quality by changing the load rating. Traction would stay the same

I like the 18's.... As "johnday" said, I also like more side wall.
