Default 13 eco 6th gear

3hr cruise on the highway last weekend glance down and notice only 5 gears showing on dash and it's in 5th. Trucks new to me, honestly started questioning was it a 6spd like I thought. Manual upclick and 6 shows up and it changes in to it. Highway relatively flat, not in tow/haul, running fine, trans temp fine, no idiot lights. Is this normal? Hasn't seemed to do it again, including the 3hr drive home that next day

I would think just hitting the button would downshift to 5th but not make 6th disappear on the screen? Or is that basically the OD turnoff while allowing it to automatic shift 1-5 as needed

Even in drive if you manually shift down it will downshift and only go up to the gear shown.

Normal. Hitting the down button allows you to lock out gears. Keeps the engine in the best power band and prevents trans overheating. Good for towing but not so much for hiway crusing. Hit the up button and you'll get back to normal.

All of this is well covered in the owners manual.

This. You can choose manual and lock out gears or stay in D and still lock them out.

Only my 2nd vehicle with button shift auto, and the subaru acts similar to the f150 in manual mode showing only what gear it's in (actually gives suggestions of up/down or either). Now I know, thanks guys
