Update, while poking around with IDS I noticed you have an option to use either the headlamps OR the turn lamps as DTRL.
Since I have HID projectors I figure I better leave it set for the turn lamps, much cheaper to replace.

Is that for standard and hid or only hid? I am trying to explain to the dealer how to do turn my parking lights on as DTRL, they don't seen to understand what I'm asking...

I know it's already been said, but I just wanted to confirm it. I have a 2013 xlt with halogen headlights. I got my dealership to turn on just my amber front turn lights as my DRLs......free of charge.

Just want to thank everyone who posted here. Just got the DRL's activated on my 2013 Platinum and am thrilled with the result. Thanks especially to the "tech's" that included specific directions on how to do it. I handed those with my keys to the dealer today and it was done w/in 30mins, free of charge. Great forum!!

I am reviving this thread to say thanks to everyone who responded with the instructions. I first asked my dealer to activate the daytime running lights during my service in Sept of 2014. The service manager came to me and said "we activated the lights, but only the turn signals come one" - to which I responded "Yes, I know. Thank you." But when my service advisor came back with my keys he told me that they tried but could not activate my DRL due to the HIDs. He said there wasn't enough power on the DRL circuit to turn on the HID. At this point I had to get to work - so I accepted his answer and left...knowing he was incorrect.
Yesterday I went in for the next service appointment. I used the information in this thread to explain how to turn on the DRL and what to expect: turn signals on bright when truck is in gear.
The service advisor said he had to argue with the tech and provide the instructions, but they got them turned on.

Quick question for you guys..... I usually just turn my headlights on every time I get into the vehicle, or I may even run with parking lamps on. I'm a little confused about which lights are DRLs. Are they the amber lights below my headlights? As you can see in the picture I posted those lights are on when parked with the parking lights on. Do they turn off when I start driving?

Yes, the amber lights you referred to are what's used for DRL when you have factory HID on 2013+ F150. The DRL uses the bright filament on he bulb, so they are a bit brighter than just turning on your parking lights.
The DRL are only active when you are in gear - they turn off in park. If you are turning on the lights via the switch, they will remain on until you turn them off or your battery dies...they won't turn off while your driving.
