OK, I have my `13 FX4 with factory HID`s in the shop for its first oil change, back window that will not close and paint flaking off a running board.

Simple stuff right....so I threw in the DRL request as well. No dice with this particular dealer. They say its impossible that mine does not have the ability. I even wrote down the specific steps linked from this thread to get them headed the right way.

I contacted Ford Customer Service on the forum and they were very responsive but limited with what they can do on the technical side.

So my question is has anyone had this process successfully performed around the Atlanta, Ga area or NE Alabama? I would like to find one that has done it previously.

I have called 6 dealers in the Atlanta metro area and have gotten every answer from it can't be done, we have never heard of that, heck well plug it up to the computer but it will take all day for us to try, to please hold for the parts department....I hung up on the last one. Quotes also range from $70 to $150 just to plug in, not even perform the change.

Can we start a list of knowledge able dealers for others to access? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Well....picked the truck up after 5 complete work days at the shop.

Oil change and tire rotate....Check.

Replaced rear window switch....Check.

Geeked up plastic on the sun glass overhead console door by using screwdriver to pry against to get rear window switch out....Check.

Not painting running board where paint has flaked off after sending two sets of pictures to Ford to evaluate repair vs. replace. These are the geniuses that painted the paint to match running boards when they swapped them at time of purchase....Check. (FX4 Appearance running boards are shipped paint to match when ordered from parts dept)

Pulled out housing cover over middle rear seat belt real while goofing with rear window....Check.

Complementary wash job performed by Ray Charles with Ronnie Milsap assisting....Check.

New Large scratch added to left rear door while getting in to bust seat belt housing cover or during Ray & Ronnie's wash job....Check.

Not having one clue about DRL's nor one inkling to listen to the steps provided from this forum nor making one call to someone at Ford with a clue....Check.

Leaving their MAC Tools HVAC leak detector rolling around in bed of the truck only to be found when I arrive at home....Priceless.

Needless to Say the Dealership General Manager and I have spoken....

I have talked via phone with a Metro Atlanta Dealer who states they are cool with turning on DRL's....I'll update with the name/location of the dealer if I can prove their confidence to be true.

Can somebody please offer some assistance on how to get my dealer to enable DRL on my 2013 model?

I took the F150 in requesting this feature be enabled, and in the dealer's defense they tried but didn't have a procedure and was unsuccessful. Their technician attempted to reach out the Ford Dealer Network support and was provided the following response:

"Enabling the daytime running lights on vehicles that will be operated in the Untied States is not a supported modification. Please return the vehicle to original configuration. This modification would violate the US FMVSS regulations. The modification is supported for vehicles that would be exported to Canada. In these cases it will be necessary to have the R.I.V. (registrar of imported vehicles) paperwork filled out before the modification could be made."

Can we please get FordServiceto officially comment on this feature? Hundreds 13+ owners from this form have been successful in working with their dealers to enable this feature. Daytime running lights are found on nearly every platform sold in the US today. I haven't owned a vehicle without DRL in over a decade and quite frankly am shocked that Ford will not support this! I want to turn the headlight switch to Auto, I want the DRL to come on during the day, and the headlights to switch on during the night. How is that so complex for Ford? Every other vehicle manufacture seems to have figured it out!

curious as to how canada handles old vehicles without DRL's? You just have to turn on your headlights?
