How many one-eyed GM trucks have you seen though? It may just be a GM thing, but they're notorious for burning the DRL's out quick.

I was on a mini rant as I know these safety items are good but you can throw safety items all day long but until to remove the human element then there will always be idiots that ruin someone's day or lives.

I've been almost hit several times on the side of the road at accidents and I'm blocking the lane with a 47' ladder truck with over a hundred LED emergency housings which translates into thousands of them. I have 6 quartz lights that are 750 watts each. Yet drivers almost hit us.
RES4CUE Yes this is so true. My sister is a police officer and the stupidity level of some people in accidents is a shame. About 2 months ago, she did the report of a lady who ran into a tractor-trailer that was stopped at a light. She said she did not see it and didnt know it was stopped. DUH! And some one ran into a ambulance on a traffic scene around here last month too. With all of those lights flashing, some one side swiped it cause they was trying to look at what was going on and not paying attention to going straight down the road.

Toddman34 Yeah no doubt. Or eating, typing on the computer, digging around in the vehicle, feeding kids in the back seat and any other crap that I have seen go on around here.

Well, all you DRL haters have just lucked out...it seems that the Ford technicians at my local dealer didn't know how to activate them correctly, and my interior lights now flash uncontrollably while I'm driving down the road.

So I'm confused here. What does it mean to have your daytime running lights turned on? Can't you turn them on manually with the headlight ****?

Sounds like they activated the Disco Rave Lights by mistake. Was the technician from Flour Bluff?

Haha, I think my wording was a bit harsh...the guys actually seemed to know what they were doing but they just weren't used to DRL activation on a 2013.

I love the idea of having the DRL activated on my 13. Never knew it could be done. My only concern is with me have a custom tune. With them reprogramming the computer should i return my truck to stock before bringing it in? Is this something the dealer must do, or is it something i can do?

Is the option to turn DRL's on available for 2010? I noticed that my parking lights have a 'high beam' mode when I first unlock with the remote and then they dim down to normal brightness.

Daytime running lights are a safety feature for other drivers, not for you. So when that driver goes to pull out of a parking spot in bad conditions, or make a left turn on a road in bad conditions, your lights provide some evidence of your car being there. DRL are not a safety feature for you (though if that person sees you it makes you safer by proxy).

Perhaps your lights are so bright they blind the other driver and they almost hit you because suddenly they cannot see the road? There are rules on lights for this reason, and there are rules on how your lights have to be angled. Call it government mandates or over regulation, but it makes everyone equal and lets you drive other cars and have a familiar experience, as well as for other drivers.
