Another dilema for me. Looking around, as I always am. I came across these two trucks

I currently have a 12XLT Crew cab with 60,xxx miles on it. No complaints, I like the truck. I just like to upgrade. I put a lot of highway miles on my truck for work (1,900+ a month). I think I could get the prices a little lower on those two FX4's if I went to look at them. I'm leaning towards the '14 because of the moonroof and remote start (which I got installed in my '12).
Those two FX4's seem that they have ALL the bells and whistles, along with the appearance package that I really like. My question is this...What do you think of those two trucks and would it be worth it to upgrade to those? Or would it make more sense to just look at '15 XLT package for around the same price?

Depends what you like for options. Many that get an xlt are settling and then mid them to get options they should have just bought in the first place - like you did with your xlt. So ask yourself if you will mod it and add features - if so, don't waste your time with a run of the mill xlt. However if you like basic features and don't care about more, then xlt is a great value.....

I've owned a 2011,2013 and 2014. All xlt's with xtr package.
The 2013 was the least troublesome of the three. The 2014 was a complete nightmare. Your mileage may very...but the 2014 is the bastard child of the 2015 and 2013. It has a few different components from the 2015, and it was a nightmare from day one...for us anyhow.

I'm actually not a real big fan of the 15 new body style. Side by side I think the 14 and below look better.
Without going and checking the trucks out the 13 could definitely happen for me price wise. The 14 would be a stretch, but then again depends on how much they want to get rid of a used truck. The options on the 14 are just everything I'd ever want in a truck and then some

Yeah, when I first saw the 2015 I couldn't figure out who could possible want that ugly sob. As I see more of them, they are starting to grow on me. I would say the 2013 is the best bet, but a 2015 would give you a full warranty, but it's basically a new model year which is a gamble. I just can't recommend a 2014, even though you'll likely find a million people that say it's the best thing since sliced bread.

My '14 hasn't had any issues in the 10 months that I've owned it so I can recommend the '14.

Ok I agree with almost everything he just said, I hate my 14 compared to my 12 and I don't know why, I haven't really been to the shop for anything but I feel like my truck has no "get up and go" compared to the 12. My buddy bought a 15 with the sport package and I never liked the 15's till I saw his. Really nice, and I still see 15's on the road that I feel look hideous.
Now Ian, back to what you just said about full warranty... Just because a truck has full warranty doesn't make it a better truck as you are my number 1 example of that.
OP personally I would go with the 13, as I feel that was more the end of the model year, the 14 like Ian mentioned is a bastard child of the 13 and the 15

I have a 13 and my buddy has a 14. To me, both trucks are the same. Looks, ride....etc. I am sure there are some small differences, but I haven't really looked.
Both trucks have little mileage. But the 14 has a moon roof, HID's and Navigation, MFT. The 13 has an appearance package. But the 14 looks to have appearance and luxury packages.
All those options would add up to more than the price differences, I wold think.
I think I would get the 14....

I would go with the 14 and the extra options.
The lower control arm's mounting point for the shock, is the only difference between 13 vs the 14.
Wait for the new body to get the 8 speed tranny, sync 3 and fix those first year kinks.
Besides...Except for the aluminum body, and a little tweak to the engines, on the 15's. Its not all that much different.
Unless you want to spend a fortune, to get the LED headlights and the 360 camera.
