Default 12 screw 6.5ft popping noise at 20MPH

Hi Guys,

I'm new here. Currently own a 12 6.5ft screw eco. I didn't recall it making this noise when I bought it but when I took it to the dealer they are telling me it's characteristics of the truck. This is coming from two dealers.

The issue is right around 20-25 or 25-20 deceleration you can hear this constant popping noise coming from seems like the drive shaft/transfer case area. It's more evident when deceleration from 25mph to 20mph. After 20 it seems to disappear. I have since decide to video tape the undercarriage of the truck and got one short video and one pretty long video. Please check it out and let me know what you guys think.

My dealer is telling to me it's normal. I disagree. They said the next step is for me to contact for corporate as they won't contact the field rep because it's the characteristics of the truck. Again I disagree.

I'm reading through f150forum and I am wondering if you guys think I should contact crystal and get in touch with a field rep? What you guys think?

Here's the video. Sorry camera is upside down so video is upside down.

Please read the time section for more precise of when it's happening.

I don't.
However I will toss a camera under the truck to see if I record anything like this.

Hi leex1269,

My name's Chad, and I'm the new Ford Service Rep. Please shoot me a PM with the current mileage of your truck; I'll explore options to assist.

leex1269,
My truck (2010) does not sound like that. I ran it around the block a few times and to work this morning. Watched / listened to the video and didnt have that. Didnt post the video as it is pretty boring.

PM Chad already, we'll see what he says. But I'm getting the sense this is the characteristics of the truck. Anyone else care to shed some light.

Are you a 4x4...could be your IWE malfunctioning. Helps out sometimes if you build a good SIG for info sake

yes it is 4x4. sorry new here will update info. I don't know if IWE is the cause, but I did try to put her in 4x4 on a straight road running around 20mph and the noise is still there, seems maybe a little less evident maybe due to more drivetrain noise i'm not sure.

Status Update,

So went back to dealership with Chad's help. Got a hold of Regional Service Manager trying to work out with the dealer to see if they can tear it down and find out what's going on, but and this is a BIG but, my service manager called me after 3 days of dropping the truck off and said that his supervisor and "on that same day" a field rep happen to be in their dealership looked at it and said they couldn't hear anything or find anything wrong with it.

I told him have they seen my video, which I assume they haven't. My service manager said seeing the video wouldn't provide a cure for the issue, and since they can't find a problem with the truck it's waiting for me to take it home. I told him it wouldn't provide a cure, but it shows there's a problem. I have ask him to contact the national hot line, but it seems they are reluctant to do so for whatever reason.

I've ask for them to put a camera under a different truck and see if it does it and they told me they don't have that capability. So I'm asking all you ecoboost 6.5 screw owners especially year 2012 to see if you post videos of your 2012 undercarriage and see if it makes this kind of noise. I'm hoping with enough traction we can something done, instead of "we can't hear it" from the dealership.

Daniel from Ford Regional Manager did suggest that the drive shaft be balance or looked at since I did have some rear end work done before at the dealership and it might throw it off balance, but I'm not sure how this communication is going between him and the dealership because all I got from the dealership was to take my truck home.

Common guys really need some help getting this issue straighten out. What other steps do I need to get this seriously looked at, it seems like they didn't want to do anything and just have me take it home and live with it. Unjustifiable for 40k truck with barely 18k on the dot.

Thanks,
