Btw I'm spot on with the EPA advertised mpg. I suspect it's because I also use 91 E0 fuel.

Dumb question, why would someone buy a full size truck, and expect to get big mpg's?

I've got a 2012 Supercab 3.7 4x2 6 1/2 bed with 3.73 gears. I still have the stock 17 inch rims and tires. My mileage so far has been an overall average of 18.5mpgs. I work out every tank by hand. I do about 65% highway driving at about 70mph, the rest is city driving. It did improve a bit as the miles increased. I have 50,000 miles on the truck now. I have been able to get 23 mpg on the highway keeping it at or below 65mph. I find that if you get the rpms over 2,000, the mileage drops. I think the oversize tires and heavier rims may have a negative affect on mileage. Takes more power to get the truck moving. I've seen a dyno run where they compared stock aluminum rims on a pickup against larger heavier rims, and the power was down noticeably. Like 70-80 hp measured at the rear wheels.

Man, that seems low for a 3.7. My 2011 had a 3.7, and my city mpg never dipped below 17. It was a stock 2wd supercrew. Even when I leveled it and moved up to 33" tires, I still got 16.9 mpg. Even got 23 mpg once on a 6 hour road trip.

Of course, I bought the truck used. It was already broken in when I got it at 35,000 miles. So I agree, give it some more time. After 6,000 miles or so, your mileage should be closer to where it's expected.

my 2011 i was getting 16 city, 20 highway by 3000 miles. I can't even break 17 highway cruising at 65 in my 2014 with 2200miles. I hope it increases eventually.

I don't know anybody who expects big mpg with a truck, most people who buy a truck need it for towing or hauling and I think they expect at least mileage close to what is advertised. I would expect better mileage from a 3.7, than a 6.2 all day long. I know truck drivers who are fighting to get every tenth of a mile out of their truck,,in fact they get paid more if they get good fuel mileage in their company's big rigs. For every 5mph over sixty, my truck drops 2 mpg. Do the math, 1000 miles at 60mph I get 22mpg and 17mpg at 70 mph. That is a nice night out with the wife for the money I save.

I'm not looking for big mpg. Just not happy with 12.9 mpg when sticker says 19 combined. hopefully this will improve with time
