Default '12 5.0 water pump leaking already ???

Truck is just shy of 75k and dealer just called about leaking water pump.
Is this common of the 5.0L or is this an odd ball case?

Too soon for this IMO.

I ahve a 13 5.0 RCSB and had to have the water pump replaced 2 weeks ago...at 23000 miles on the clock. Waiting for regional Svc mgr to call me to get the REST of the issues fixed. Don't want to deal with lemon law attny, but may have to go that route, as this dealership doesn't seem to want to work on troubleshooting anything properly.

So not a common issue on our trucks.
Just surprised as I never expected it.

This is the perfect response.

Working in the service dept I find it sorta funny when people offer their opinions of how long something "should" last. There are far too many variables that can affect a man made device with a large number of moving parts.

Has the repair been made, 1fifty? I'll escalate this to your regional customer service manager for further assistance. Please send me a private message with your full name, VIN, servicing dealership, and best daytime contact number.

I see your most recent message in my inbox, akhenaten, and will get to it as soon as I can. Thanks for your patience!

I agree - yours, not so much. Just a belt driven shaft with a gasket.

??
They are replacing the water pump, so I don't feel there is a need to escalate this. No complaints with the dealer.

Started this thread wondering if this has been common on the newer 5.0L and from the looks of it I don't think so.

Thank you.

had a '98 explorer w/ 220k miles on it finally need a water pump, had a saab 9-7x (gm LS motor) go through 3 in under 75k miles. its hit or miss with them, cast housing, press fit pieces w/ corrosive water running through it....time bomb.

Totally understand, 1fifty. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing I could do to assist.

Have a good one!
