CV Boot Repair Options
Well most of you know that I installed a rough country level kit yesterday. Just about everyone helped out here with what I thought I had screwed up and all it really ended up being was a torn cv boot. Well this morning I took some pictures of the damage now I have a few questions. From what I saw it looks like there are 2 or 3 spots where the grease is seeping out of. Now here are my questions:
1. Is there a universal cv boot to replace this?
2. Do I have to replace the whole axle for that side or just the boot?
3. Does motorcraft make a cv boot and is this the one that is for $50
that I have seen online a few places or are there other brands?
4. Is there a temp fix like an adhesive to put over the tears to keep it
from seeping more grease?
5. Should I try my local ford dealer to see if it will be covered under
warranty, even though im pretty sure they will say it was because of
the level kit being installed??
6. How long do I have to get this taken care of? I only drive to work
which is a 3 mile round trip. I can ride my bike to work if its going to do
more harm than good. I haven't taken the truck off road yet. I haven't
even taken it off road since I first bought it which ive been itching to do
since getting this truck
7. Or should I just replace the clamp possibly loose? If so what clamp do you all suggest?

Sometimes, removing the axle from the transaxle (transmission) can really be a big headache tapping it out or prying on it. There is usually a metal keeper that seals the transmission fluid in and lining that up for the axle to pull out does not co-operate very will.
Bottom line buy oem axle about $300-500 and labor for 2hrs = another $200. You are looking about $750-$850 or better at the dealership. I believe this is same price for rebooting. This why I always buy the whole new axle.

If you can get the grease cleaned off, I bet Aquaseal would seal it. I use this stuff for all sorts of repairs. It remains soft and flexible after curing. It sticks to all sorts of rubber, vinyl, and urethane materials. The biggest problem is how it gets thinner after applying, and will run before curing. A couple thin coats would work. It's available ar Cabela's and other sporting goods stores too. Don't confuse this with shoe goo type products.

Not to be a Richard cranium but you tore it while doing the level yourself and should sack up and pay for your mistakes.

As for now i havent heard anything back from the dealership. Also yes i probably did tear it or maybe not? After reading online i guess its common for the boots to tear when adding a level kit. So maybe i did maybe i didnt. All im doing is trying to get my truck fixed one way or another. If i end up having to pay for then i will. Thanks
