Default 2011 rear camera

I own a shop and i am going to install a oem camera in a 2011 fx4 with all wiring but rear harness and roof harness. The wiring diagram and terminal locations are different at camera and mirror between 2010 and 2011. Rear video wires change color from brown/brown and yellow to 2011 white and green positive video feed and brown and violet neg feed, i believe no matter what mirror or camera you have this will work if you place the terminals in the right location. If you have a 2010 mirror to 2011 harness according to factory wiring diagram terminals 2&9 will be switched for compass and reverse feed. Terminals 3&4 will be switched for ground all others appear to be at the same location. 2010 shows 2 compass wires at terminals 9&10, 2011 shows 1 compass feed at terminal 2, i will address this at install when i get everything. I havent decided if i am getting a new rear harness seems very simple to me to run 2 wires for video feed to engine compartment and solder or heatshrink cover with convoluted tubing (wire loom) to current wiring. You can pick up camera feed at reverse lamp feed and ground at top of spare tire. Camera terminals for 2010 show 5 wires 2011 show 6 it adds a feed to bcm does not designate if this is for nav or non nav in diagram i guess i will find out at install. Terminals at camera all change except for no.1 power feed vt/brown term 2 bcm gray/vio term 3 video neg brn/vio term 4 video pos white/green term5 ground blk/green term6 shield black. 2010 camera swap to 2011 wiring swap terminals 3&5 move 2 to 6 leave 2 open move no.6 ground to term 5. Hope this helps i will follow up after install.

Default 2011 RVD wiring diagram

Hope this helps. I did this a couple of months ago and I love the camera. Installed in 2011 XLT Ecoboost with auto dim and drivers side dim with compass. All of the pinning was correct only had to add the 2 video leads.

Hank573, thanks for the very helpful diagram.

I'm trying to map the pinouts of a mirror from a 2009 ( 8U5A 17E678 DE ) to a 2011 f150. Any chance you can post a diagram for the 2009?

Currently, I am getting the blue screen, so It seems I just need to figure out where the video +/- lines are supposed to go. I'm pretty certain my problem is at the mirror, and not at the camera.

Yes, the compass works, as well as auto dimming and the camera.

I still have the mirror if anyone is looking for BU5A 17E678 CD?

just wanted to say thanks for all the effort guys have put into this thread.

I just installed a 2009 F-150 Sync LCD mirror (BU5A 17E678 EE) and a 2011 F-150 Tailgate Emblem camera into my 2006 F-250.

I was running into problems and finally found the answer here. The 2011 camera has different wires and locations than the 2008-2010 camera. Once I swapped the pinouts on the harness, she works like a dream.

BTW, I got my camera from Nailsandsales (eBay) also. She sent me a 2011 camera, with a 2008-2010 harness. After reading a ton of posts her, I think that is the problem many guys are having. The 2008-2010 harness simply won't work with the 2011 camera until you swap 2 of the leads.

overall, a great mod. I spent about $370 total for this and am extremely happy. Thx again

truck is a 2011 right, with the 16 pin connector?

You need to swap some 1 of the pinout for your 16 pin connector. The 2009 mirror you are using has different pin locations from its 2011 counterparts. Your 2011 connector PIN #4, needs to be moved to PIN #3 position to work with your 2009 mirror.
Then add the Camera + to pin #8 position and Camera - to pin #16 positions
The pins you need for a 2009 mirror
1 - Power
2 - Reverse trigger
3 - ground
8 - Camera Positive (+)
16 - Camera Negative (-)

The pins you currently have with your factory 2011 mirror
1 - Power
4 - Ground
8 - Camera Positive (+)
9 - Reverse Trigger
16 - Camera Negative (-)

Hope that helps out

Default Common Camera Problems

and now, another area that kicks guys butts

if you have a 2008-2010 camera, you are good to go and can ignore this.

If you have a 2011 camera
The 2011 camera has some different wires. It has 6 wires, with following colors (thx markcf105)

1. PRP/brn - Power
2. Gry/Prp
3. BRN - Ground
4. WHT/grn - Video Positive (+)
5. BLK/grn - Video Negative (-)
6. BLK
To make the 2011 camera work with the 2008-2010 harness that comes with it, move 2 pins and be good. Take apart the harness FEMALE Camera Connection and move the following
PIN #2 (Wht/Grn wire) and move it to Pin #4
Pin #4 (Blk wire) and move it to Pin #2

To make the camera work, all you need is the power, ground, Cam +, Cam - signal. You can also run the shield if wanted. I didn't and the video looks fine.

Hope that helps. I spent hours thinking my mirror was broken. Then I stumbled across the fact that the 2011 and 2008-2010 are different. I swapped the pins and suddenly my picture worked.

guys you lost me after the word Ford. I know the wiring diagram I posted for a 2011 works, but I am sorry I have no information for any years prior to that. Good luck and take you time.
