The stock dimming mirror with the SYNC microphone doesn't already have the LCD display built-in. At least not that I'm aware of. It would be great if it did.

There is no existing wiring harness at the back of the truck if the truck didn't come from the factory with the camera installed. You'll have to run your own wire and you'll need to purchase either a Gentex dimming mirror with the LCD display or use something like an aftermarket head unit with a video display.

The aftermarket Gentex LCD display mirrors do not have the microphone so you would need to install a separate mic if you go that route.

I received my OEM cameras today. I bought two since I only paid $70 each including the Ford emblems and bezels.

Since I had a spare camera, I went ahead and tried powering one up on the bench. Using the following as previously posted, everything worked fine...

pin-1 red / 12v
pin-6 blk / ground
pin-5 grn / video -
pin-4 wht / video +

All in a diagram...

if you run your own wire to the front are you cutting into the connection above? or can you wire into the connector? I am very mechanical minded but an electrical idiot! I put on my camera emblem today just to get it on, now i have to figure out what option i want to use for a display in the truck.

as for sync, is there a direct mic connection on the sync box? what other mics can i use if i wanted to go with a mirror without the mic?

Thanks

I'm going to cut the factory connector off of the camera harness and use Weather-Pack connectors then run my own video cable and wire for power and ground.

As far as the microphone wiring, I'm not sure. My original plan was to just tie into it inside the headliner but I'm not sure yet. I'd still have to figure out which wires though.

Default Emblem cutout template

Would it be possible for someone with a 2009 F150 to make a paper template in the shape of the Ford logo with an outline of the camera cutout with screw holes and scan it in and post the image here. It would help me make the correct cutout in my tailgate.

Ordered my camera, should have it in a few days. Thinking about using one of those clip-on lcd mirrors on eBay until I can find a stock Ford mirror with LCD and mic for sync. Where are you guys running the lines into the cab?

I bought a 09 emblem camera for my 08 lariat and the wiring colors are the same as the one on the 08. Just passing on the info.

For the video cable--are you using a RCA? Do you simply splice the video +/- to the RCA cable?
