Question about the 3M clear bra
I'm planning to get the 3M clear bra for my truck when it comes in. My last truck had chips in the bumper that turned into little rust spots, and I wanted to keep my new truck protected from that, especially since it's white and will show up more. Is it really necessary to do more than just the bumper? The truck is just going to be a street queen. I did get one chip right on the very front of my hood on my last truck that was pretty big, but it's the only truck I've ever had that got a chip on the hood. Would just doing the front bumper be sufficient?

I had it on a white car a couple years back and the 3M that I had kept turning yellow and after about the 3rd time they told me that they wouldnt replace it again.

Ouch, $450! I just got the front end of my 2005 Titan touched up when prepping it for sale, all the little chips, was $120, looked perfect. This is a situation though where a chrome front end trumps the painted front ends (FX,STX,XL)
I have black, so thinking of maybe doing some Plasti-Dip just for long road trips. Or some easily removable plastic. Wish the 3m wasn't so expensive, I hate it when the cure is more expensive than the ailment.

The one installed on mine wasnt 3M brand, Ill have to check to see what it was but has lifetime warranty against peeling or yellowing.
I did a LOT of researching into it prior to doing it and from what I saw, some of the cheaper brands and not very well installed causes that.

Check out clearbra-kits.com great products! Talk to Scott he's the man on getting little extras thrown in for free! They use the 3M Ventureguard, lots better than the scotchgard. I would also recommend to do the rocker panels, as any car or truck gets beat to hell down there.

And I don't think I've had any ships on the rocker panels on any of the 4 F150's I've had in the past. I wasn't planning on getting the 3M for them. I'm more concerned about the front.

I did the front upper bumper ( xlt with chrome package so lower was chrome before I blacked it out with plasdidip), corners that wrap around and bout first 4 inches of hood. Hood is the ONLY place you can tell its on and only of looking for it from couple feet away. Even in direct sun, I can hardly see it in bumper or edges when looking for it. I had Pickup Plus Cars local to me do the install, they may have what brand they carry/install on their web page

I'm not familiar with this. What exactly is it? Is it something a paint shop sprays on? I wish I had known of something that would protect the front. I have multiple chips on the front bumper and front of my hood.
Never mind, I googled it. Wish I knew about this a year ago. Website says you can install yourself. Anyone tried to do it themselves?

It's pretty tuff to do and if you mess up well you bought it. I would pay the money to have it done. I need to get one done myself. I have had 2 installed on other trucks.
