Default Major drone with 14" Magnaflow, Need Help

Hey guys I've looked through the posts but haven't really found an answer for my question yet. I just got my resonator deleted, kept the original tail pipe and have a 14" SISO magnaflow. With the resonator on and the 14, it was barely louder than stock, waay to quiet. This thing SCREAMS now!! I went from one extreme to another. Holy cow I almost gave an old man heart attack at the gas station across the street today! It's too much! My ears even ring a little bit after driving it because of the drone. My question is how can I keep this deep growl that the resonator delete created but get rid of this horrible drone? I want it loud just not in the cabin. Would a small glasspack as a resonator work or would it kill the deep growl I have now? Would simply putting a bigger magnaflow on be the ticket? Any other options would also be greatly appreciated.
PS. Parked in the driveway tonight and saw a neighbor 2 doors down peek through the window! Ya they can hear it!

Unfortunately getting loud exhaust and not having drone is hard to do. I did the same but kept my resonator and it's plenty loud enough for me. You can try putting on a longer muffler. I read a post on here the other day about a guy who put a glasspack in front of his muffler to act as a resonator and it sounded good. Let me see if I can find it and if I do I'll post it.

Here you go!

Why would you want a loud truck in the first place.......what's the point? Eventually you will grow out of it like everybody else.

You don't answer a question with a question. The guy ask for help. He said he DIDNT want a loud truck. He just wanted a deep growl. But I guess when you grow out of enjoying the sound of your vehicle, you grow into feeling like everybody owes you an explanation for their actions.

To the op, not much you can do if the magnaflow is too loud, except put a new system in, or put the resonator in. They do sell aftermarket resonators, that may be smaller than the stock one, and give you the deeper sound you want. If not, I know Borla makes a more quiet exhaust, but that means buying a new system.

Well, my apologies! I do speak from experience, I had plenty vehicles with loud exhaust systems, mostly Flowmaster 2-chambers or Magnaflow. They sound nice but get annoying really quick. None of these sysrtems are suited for a daily driver. I have 3-chamber Flowmasters on my Monte Carlo SS and they do not drone. Any straight through or chambered design will drone due to resonance.

I do have an answer....put your stock exhaust back on if it is a daily driver or you do any long distance driving on the freeway.

You may speak from YOUR experience. That doesn't mean it will be everyone's experience. I am 54 and have owned "loud" cars and trucks my whole life including daily drivers. My '14 Lariat had a Solo-X catback on it within a month of owning it. It is one of the loudest exhausts and sounds great without drone. Brings a smile to my face everytime I start it! Some of us never get tired of that sound so personal "experience" is just that, your personal experience.

To the OP, like some have said, you might try a small resonator in front of your muffler. You also might go to your local muffler shop and see if they have any suggestions.

What I stated is my opinion. The experience is the same (noticing the drone/resonance) no matter who you are, it just bothers some more than others. Obviously the OP isn't happy with it and that is his opinion.

I'd want to go back to stock too if all I ever put on anything were dronemasters.

And he wanted suggestions how to make it better, not to be questioned why he wanted it that way. And then YOUR experience growing tired of it. If you don't have something to offer, don't post

I did the same thing. On my third try I did a 50 series flow master with a dynomax bullet. Much better than magnaflow. Sound is good now but still some drone while towing.
