Couple fine steel chips in brake pad
Each rotor has fine score rings. Removed pads and each had one or more 1/16" steel chips imbedded in the pad material causing the score rings. I removed the chips which were worn into shiny flakes.
There was a groove in the pad material where the chip had tore its way in and the groove stopped at the chip.
I'm at 14k and I've never seem this after many diy brake jobs. No sign of metal shavings or red dust. Rotors have slight dark color.Otherwize pads look new.
I'm thinking road work and concrete cutting but see no sign of it on rest of truck. Any other ideas?
