I think he is asking what the actual temperature the hids vs. halogen bulbs get to, not the color temp. I have seen photos of melted fog lights... The color rating given in thousands of degrees Kelvin is based on the ideal black body radiation model, not what temperature the bulbs actually reach. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_body

I've seen them on F150s before with zero issues. Of course there is a chance of having melting with improper install, but factory fog lights are usually built to without high temperatures.

fyi, the greater the kelvin (k) rating, the lower the light output (lm). This means if you want blue or purple, i hope you dont plan on seeing more than 10 ft in front of you.

I'm guessing either 8k or 10k based on the color examples in the original listing but it's also hard to tell on a PC screen (LCD or otherwise) true color representation. I've looked on the bulb and the original box and there's nothing indicating the color temp. It is a bulb w/ what appears to be a blue ceramic rod on the outside of the bulb. They are also mechanical HI/LO Xenon brand. I'm installing Troyer efans and underdrive this week along with some Granatelli COPS so I'll try and get some pics of the bulbs to send to you. I appreciate your offer to assist.
