I have a 2010 FX4 with the Sony system w/ sub. Can I replace the factory sub with the kicker sub only? Have read mixed reviews that this will and will not work.

If it will work do I have to rewire the sub and will it fit in the factory mounting holes that the Sony sub is mounted

According to Ford it will not work if you have the base or Sony system.

It is really frustrating that the newer trucks don't have a sub like the older ones.

The info is confusing because in 09-10 it will not work but in 2011+ the Sony sub can be replaced as per Kicker.

Not sure what you mean by newer? the 09-14's or 2015's?

So any of you guys with this Kicker subwoofer upgrade try the polyfill mod on the kicker sub? Have seen a bunch of good reviews on the stock sony sub with the polyfill mod and wondered if it would also work for the kicker.
