I ordered these earlier in the week and the came with fast & free shipping. I decided to post this here because there are lots of variations of these tow mirrors. The ones I bought are linked above and are $499.99

the box is HUGE. 43lbs!

I was hoping for a chrome cap, like my current OEM tow mirrors & the original prototype photo but its not - just black textured - although it does look like its a removable end-cap, so maybe that can be changed after the fact.

First impressions a few good and bad.

Good:
+These appear to be a quality built mirror, no visible issues with build quality.

+The passenger side glass appears to be flat! WOW, now you actually will have some real depth perception on the tow mirror instead of the convex glass Ford put on the 2012 tow mirrors. awesome.

+ there's a pigtail included so you can change the behavior of the light (or lights not sure until I connect it) on the back of the mirror if you want by connecting them to a different wire in your truck. So make them parking light or signal or whatever - you'll have to wire through the door into the truck but at least you have the option - thats a nice touch.

The Bad:
- There doesn't appear to be a rear facing signal - if its embedded in the glass I can't see it (maybe it is, I have not installed them yet) I'll reserve judgement until they're plugged in but I expected one & I'm skeptical at best right now.

-There is NO puddle light on the bottom of the mirror.

unboxing pics in the post to follow...

I got these installed today. My truck does NOT have power fold from the factory because its a 2012 with Max tow, so I'm leaving the folding out of the equation for right now (I have something in the works).

I'm happier with these mirrors now than I was on Friday when I opened the box.
First the black textured cap is removable with 2 small clips. for those who are so inclined... I don't know yet what will fit as a replacement, but it does appear to be an option.

The fit and finish installing on the truck was perfect, super easy. When I=installed on my truck the top light acted as a directional (facing more rear than front - you can see in the photos) and the bottom light took place of my downward facing puddle lamp that was on my factory mirrors.

The lens is CLEAR not smoked and the bulbs are orange. I was thinking I wanted orange lenses to match the factory style, but this look is growing on me and the lights are pretty bright.

here's a good daytime shot of the lens with the lights OFF.

Here's the turn signal which works automatically when you plug the mirrors into the truck wiring. You can see how its visible on the side and from the rear for people in the lane next to you.

As I mentioned, the bottom bulb took on the task of my factory puddle light by using the default wiring, but since they provided the option (see post above) I wanted to make the bottom light work with the parking lamps/running lights as it does on the Super Duty's.

Here's what it looks like - this bottom bulb is more visible forward than the directional.

Directional on (top) parking lamp on (bottom) - its perfect!

A shot of the same from the rear...

Here's a shot with all doors shut on the truck and the parking lamps on.

To connect up the bottom bulbs to the parking lamp, I used the supplied wiring with the kit and ran it back through the doors into the truck cab. On the passengers side where the fusebox is there are a bunch of connectors, found the one that looks like the pic and tapped PIN 6 which is a YELLOW wire with BLUE stripe as my source - this is the parking lamp circuit. I'm sure you could also hit it at the headlight switch, I just knew where it was on my truck on the passenger side from another project, so it was an easy place to grab the power.

I'll post my power fold when I get it done, hopefully later this week.

I have factory power fold mirrors on my 2011 truck now, will these work with the factory switch? I need the power fold option for where I park. Any information or anybody who has them installed would be awesome to know if they do work.

Hi Steve,

Yes they will. What features do your mirrors currently have? I'll check over here for you to see if I can match a set up to your truck.

We offer these mirrors two different ways. We have them available for trucks that came with the power fold option from the factory, and also kits for trucks that need to enable this option.

Tony
