Jeep TJ! Solid axle is a must for any serious off roading and they are so easy to modify with so many options. Wish I still had mine!

I want something cheap, easy to find, easy to lift and easy to fix. I'd prefer something with a straight front axle. Whatever I decide on I'm gonna try and get early next year, but I like to start my research early. I was thinking a 70s F-150 or Bronco,or if I can find an 80s-90s F250/350 I'd be alright, but I want your opinions on what the "best" would be. I'll mostly be playing in the mud and will be running at minimum 35s.
The picture below is similar to what came to mind according to the first part of your description . From my limited experience, cheap and offroad do not go together. The 70's F-150's and Broncos are pretty awesome though. Good luck and have fun!

I retract my previous statement for the Yota being the ultimate off-road truck and throw my vote to the AEV Jeep Brute DC350 conversion. I want.....
