Those synthetic winch ropes are awesome! Lighter, stronger, easier to handle and safer then steel aircraft grade wire rope (cable is what you connect to the back of your TV). The only downside is price, so most winches don't ship from the factory with it. Its a great upgrade for later though.

The cable on my Warn is 13 years old. Was new with the winch. I am looking to replace it and I am also finding the synthetic rope expensive. I am also concerned with abrasion damage.

that's a good point, I'd hate to buy a brand new expensive rope and it frays up on me

Wire rope has its problems as well, including pinching, kinking, bird nesting, etc.

And it is heavy. I used to unspool mine and take off towards the stuckee but now: you come and get it and lug it to your truck.

i bought an 8000 pound champion from Costco for 450 bucks, its no warn but its pulled me out of everything i asked of it, i have always found under heavy use to go 10 seconds then stop for 10 seconds that way it wont burn up your battery, winch or alternator
