Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a winch for my '74 F100. I have read that the winch needs to be able to handle 1.5 times the kerb weight of the vehicle, so I guess that would put me at 7,500lb so let's round up to a 8,000lb winch.
I like the look of the smittybilt xrc-8 which ticks all the boxes and is reasonable money...
The truck already has a meaty steel grill-guard with a flat area large enough to fit the winch, but is there anything else I should know about fitting? Is it reasonably straight forward? Is it a big strain on the electrics? Are there any other winches I should be looking at?
