For straight pull they are as strong as a conventional mounted winch where you would start to have problems are the offside pulls. This is easy enough to limit with a good anchor and blocks. Here is Warns receiver winch http://www.warn.com/truck/winches/sr...ltimount.shtml Ramsey and milemarker have similar winches search the internet for pullpal for the anchors.

I also like big winches...and you can only have a 9500lb in the receiver....take your truck weight and multiply by 1.5 and that is the size winch you should go no smaller than......if I am stuck I know that its taking more than that to get me out though....lol

Good point, that is what I have been thinking of. Too bad there is not a hi lift jack rated that high for working load, or an easy manual winch that does not get mounted to the truck.

What do you all think of this? A person in this forum said he makes them...
Iron Bull Bumpers

I am not ready to spend this much yet (shipping alone $100-$350), but the bumper looks nice!!!

I just found this:::::
Black Rat Winch...
This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for, just that it is almost as expensive as an electric winch....

The search continues....maybe I will find someone around here that wants to give a winch away or something (FAT CHANCE OF THAT)

Thanks guys!

Another cool find is this. This is the coolest jack I have ever seen.

that black rat crap isn't worth a damn....I know guys who have broken them within hours of receiving them.....and those jacks work great....only to change a tire though....not to get you out of a mess

It is a 06' f150 screw lariat 5.4 with 5 passengers....

"Each jack is tested in accordance with ASME/ANSI B30.1992 standard giving a rated load capacity of 4660 lbs and a tested load capacity of 7000 lbs, achieving a 150% safety factor. Additionally, each jack is fitted with a safety shear bolt which prevents the jack from being used on loads greater than 7000 lbs"
Tell the passengers to get out and push

Take a look at this winch: http://www.harborfreight.com/12000-l...ake-68142.html I have the 10,000lb winch from them that i just installed and I love it. I also have friends who have them and they work great.
