Winch??
Hello,
Other than getting a winch installed on the truck, is there a way to pull myself out of a mud puddle alone without a winch?....A come along possibly? What would the best option be if alone?

A friend gave me a "****** strap" but I would need someone else for that to work.
I do have a cell phone, no one I know has a 4x4 and I would rather get myself unstuck if I could.
Plausible deniability.....

A come-along combined with a thick tow rope has worked for me before...that was out of a sandy wash not mud though. Thought I was gonna have a heart attack in the process though.

I went to the Hi Lift site and they are only rated for 4600 pounds. My truck weight 7200 plus cargo and occupants (this time 5). Is there another brand that has a higher rated capacity as I will have to fight the hole I am in plus the vehicle weight??????

Sorry, just noticed the tested to 7,000....but is that enough with the above info?
It is a 06' f150 screw lariat 5.4 with 5 passengers....
"Each jack is tested in accordance with ASME/ANSI B30.1992 standard giving a rated load capacity of 4660 lbs and a tested load capacity of 7000 lbs, achieving a 150% safety factor. Additionally, each jack is fitted with a safety shear bolt which prevents the jack from being used on loads greater than 7000 lbs"

A long time ago someone told me about removing a tire and using a rim and a rope combination like a winch, but i guess that it only has sence if you have a limited slip differential. Actually i don't believe it much, but if there's no other options, i think it might be worth a try

Rule #1 of offroading.....never go alone......
Rule #2 of offroading....if you think you cant make it, you can't if you think you can make it....you're going to get stuck because you had to think about it....lol
Winches are your best best if you are going to be offroading, but if you can't do one, then the Hi-Lift is your best best...get the Xtreme model as it will be more usefull...
