what involved in re gearing?
looking to get a little info on this. i want to change to 4:56 or 4:88 gears in my 8.8 and TTB to compensate for my 38s that will be on there soon. now my question is re gearing just ring and pinion? do they make a kit? is that all that gets changed. i have LSD so assuming there isnt spider gears. if someone could give me a little info on this it would be great. and does anyone think 456 or 488 is too high for 38s? not to be crazy but it would be cool if i could still do a burnout with the 38s. thanks for any info.and also where could i purchase higher gears beacuse i cant seem to find a kit and everything i find has a picture of the product with just a ring and pinion. thanks again for example would this set me up?( in the link) http://www.accuautoparts.com/axledet...id=ACC:F888488

I bought my gears, master install kit (bearings etc) and Eaton TrueTrac from Randys ring and pinion. Factory Limited Slip is ok, but those clutches are nearly as solid as an after market L/S is. Good luck man!

4.56 sounds good for 38's. 4.88 is gonna be kinda overkill. Like said before look at Randy's ring and pinion. They have a lot of good stuff.

And if you call them, their sales guys know a lot. It's really a Passion for them. I called knowing nothing and Sean spent an hour explaining what I'd need and what would and wouldn't work. He also was patient enough to help me determine which rear end I had and what would get me the results I was looking for.

i have 4.10s with 35s wish i had gotten 4.88s but its ring and pinion, master install kit and what know one has added is new carrier to hold the gears, the rpms with my 4.10s and stock gearing with 3.08s is about a 500 rpm differnce, youll get good gas around town because it doesnt haft to work as hard to get going, but highway the best i can do is about 16-18 mpg depending on how far of a trip

4:56's for my 35's with 2 master install kits, one for the front and one for the back. Also, depending on what year your truck is and what size engine, you may need to have different overall size Ring and Pinion for the front and back. Ex. The front end being 8.8 ford and back/rear being 9.75(like mine was/is).
