Default What happens if...

Ok so im new to mudding, havent seriously gotten into anything for one reason though, im worried about something happening such as water in the intake, hydrolock, etc.

my question is what would happen if i romped into a puddle and mud and water got all up in the engine? will it enter the intake? how deep is too deep for a stock 2002 4x4 XLT with t-bars cranked to level?

thanks!

generally if your wheels are completely submerged your fine, just dont shut it down. leave it running and get out asap.

If it does shut off from sucking water into the intake.....do NOT try and restart it.....get it unstuck and pull all the spark plugs and crank it over...this will push all the water out of the cylinders.

one more thing to remember when you go mudding make sure you have a full tank of gas incase you get stuck in water like that so you can leave it running cause i have had to let mine fun for a few hours while we went to get something to get mine out lol water was running threw my cab and it still works lol

While mudding it is very necessary that the gas should be filled completely or else it can create many problems.

ya..if you plan on making mudding a habbit i wouldnt have a cold air intake or any kind of open element filter...make sure you have a good seal on your filter box.. even check your fenderwells and close them up as well as possible.....check your front and rear differential vent tubes ...trans and transfer vent tubes... after all that...letter eat...hah happy mudding
