250 suspension wont do anything for you, it sounds like your wanting to upgrade to a long travel suspension kit. Or something similar. It's a lot cheaper and there are more kits available if your 2wd but there are a few 4wd kits.

Pretty much I mean if you want to straight axle it you'd be better off going to buy a 250 with a straight axle. Too much $$ to straight axle your '05 F150

I've only known of 1 other person who has done it and I'm not real knowledgeable on the process but he has spent easily 30k on his truck upgrading it and I think he said between $10-18k on the front axle swap with suspension.

Search SAS in the 04-08 section and you'll probably find a thread on the guy.

Damn, you weren't kidding when you previously stated that it would be cheaper to just go buy a 250 for that kinda money you could get a nice older one.

Well the guy in question had coil suspension and either a tri-link or 4-link so it's a really tough set up. It wasn't just welding some tabs for leaf springs.

the guy he's thinking of also got a 100% custom made front axle that alone cost a couple thousand. a sas can be done under 5K or so if you know what youre doing. leaf springs are of course the easiest, but the front of the frame has a crumple zone that needs to be plated in order to put a leaf spring hanger on it. i've seen 5 or so solid axled trucks that are our year model.
