Question tire size

I have a 1997 F150 with the off-raod package. I currently have 275/70/17 for the tires. Does anyone know the largest size mud/street tire that will fit without scrubbing? Since I don't drive the truck much anymore I will be looking for an aggressive tread. Thanks in advance for the help.

I found some P305/70R17's for sale. Does anyone know if these will scrub on the stock set up?

Almost certainly they will rub. If you currently are running a 275, you should be able to easily step up to a 285 (this is usually just over 32 inches tall and 11.25 inches wide). A 295 series tire is tougher to find, and is about half an inch wider and taller, but you may rub a bit. On a 97, your choices for lift is either torsion keys (cheapest but will affect your ride adversely, while allowing you to run a 305), a body lift (which alters your center of gravity and is generally not a very good idea), and true suspension lift (most expensive, but most effective).

Thanks for all the information. I found some 33X9.5X17 Grapplers for $300 I think I am going to try. If the 12.5's don't rub I think I'll be good. Thanks Again
